As it drags out and the council puts more and more obstacles in the way of the ground that will be compromised cut and changed to fit certain criteria the more it looks outdated. The design is now over a decade old and by the time it's built or even begins (touch wood) it will be light years behind stadium designed now and with a better council behind them ready to support them. Below is a few stadiums been constructed by clubs of a similar stature to ourselves. Just a shame thats all.
Why would they want to get rid of Saltergate? Yes the pissers are male masturbation but it's one of the only old skool grounds around. Build a roof on the away end and then it'll be sorted.
That chesterfield one looks like Huddersfield. It's also being built in the middle of flipping nowhere. Not long before we get to the day when you can't even get a pint and walk to the flipping game. Just drive up like a bunch of sheep, out of the car, have your flipping coca-cola and a hot dog, watch the same old bunch of athletes run really fast down the wings, get in your car, wait 2 hours to get out of the flipping car park then intercourse off home and watch some brainless excrement-eating crap on ITV7 whilst eating bernard matthews re-constituted pig balderdash with deep fried beige food.
ok, i like going to saltergate but its a flipping dump, and anyone who thinks different needs to venture out more, it needs shutting, hence their new ground.
the scary thing is, blundell park isnt one of the wost grounds in the division, there are far worse.
our design may be 'old' but its generic, as all new stadiums are, with the exception of possibly the emirates and eastlands, all new grounds tend to look the same, or have similar design features however, we dont want a ground like huddersfields, BP is windy enough but that place is flipping awful in winter, never really been a fan of that place.
when ours is eventualy built, it'll do us for a fair few years
'the poor and the needy are selfish and greedy'...well done Mozza
According to a Lesterfield fan I know, he said that their council gave the club the land to build a new stadium on.
Also we should redo our design so that looking at it from the air it is the shape of a trawler. Stadium for the main body with beer gardens at the pointy end

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it. Jesus’ disciple Peter, picked up a fish to get the tribute money from it, Jesus left his thumb print on the fish, bless'ed is the Haddock.
Build a stadium in the middle of nowhere, 20 years later it's surrounded.............just look at Glanford Park. Awful stadium, but lots of facilities nearby.

Are you sure? Still seems to be in the middle of nowhere to me.

Blimey, somebody's tired.....! Good rant there, well done!

Middle of nowhere? It will be built on the old Dema Glass site, near a main roundabout that links up several major roads ar Whittington Moor! A much better place than at Saltergate area. I will find out some maps when I get in from skinning Vicar and co at footy tonight!
It's mad, all these football teams getting redevelopments/new stadiums, Brighton & Cardiff very soon, how long did it take Shrewsbury to get theirs sorted not long.
I know it sounds like I'm moaning, but I still think not enough was done to get the project off the ground in the first place.
We will be languishing in that shithole/shed for at least another 20 years at this rate, at least we havent got the shitest ground in league 2, probally will if & when we get promoted.
Would be nice to get some news from the Grimsby Town board on the Stadium, how long we can expect now to even get around to moving on it again.
Regarding the design, I understand updated plans will be released soon, these will be passed on to the council however it is just a formallity and will more than likely be approved straight away. This still though doesn't solve the question of how to fund it, though Fenty said a while ago there may be a way to get the funds needed without an anchor tennant so we will have to wait and see what happens
