It's been a while since the last one and I feel it's time to start a fresh.

This time it's limited to British and Irish Grounds only.

A pretty easy to start off with...

Agree with others, it's the Main Stand at Goodison. It has quite a distinctive shape which I suspect is the reason the OP thought it would be easy.

Its the Goodison Park, easy to recognise because St.Luke's church is in the picture. Its the Goodison Road Stand with St.Luke's church in the corner which is between Goodison Road stand and Gwlady's Street stand.

Looks like two teams playing in white, in front of a big crowd.

Elland Road or White Hart Lane?

how about The Oval ? (just the way the crowd seems to curve round) and i think they played some of the early cup finals there which would explain the big crowd

The clue I'm going with is the old pitch markings which I believe were last used in 1901. The line across the pitch was at 12 yds and you could take a penalty anywhere along it!
The cup final that year was at Crystal Palace, and it's a huge crowd crowd, so possibly Palace.

Crystal Palace.

I think they used to host the early FA cup finals before Wembley and it's obviously a massive crowd but no stands.

Those markings aren't for rugby or hockey - that's just an old school football pitch layout.

I'd say that's definitely Crystal Palace.

Am I right in thinking that this isn't a football ground at all.

The track around the pitch has small floodlights all round so that indicates that the track is used more than the pitch.

I thought initially it was a running track but the gap between the seating and track would not be as wide for athletics so my guess is that it is a speedway track. It also has a stand which suggests that it is used all year round and an athletics track probably wouldn't have a stand being as they are only used in the summer. I think the tractor is removing the covers. (used to watch speedway years ago). There's a double barrier as well in front of the seating which you also have on a speedway track.

So I'm going for a speedway track but I don't know where.

You're right with speedway. It was originally a football ground but has been adapted for speedway.

I am guessing but it is either an English non league ground or a lower division Scottish ground, possibly the home of a football team that play in yellow shirts, going by the colour of the seating.

Sorry I haven't been on here all night.
The correct answer is Crystal Palace, taken at the 1901 FA Cup Final.

Blimey Joe, not many takers on this one so I will start the ball rolling.

Don't think it is a conference premier ground so I am going for Conference north or south ground.

So that just leaves 44 to guess at.

I will go for the top three in each division except Telford, North Ferriby, and Boston, I know it's not them.

Hednesford, Solihull or Brackley in the Conference North, or Bromley, Eastleigh or Sutton in the Conference South.

Extreamly good deducing there mate. As someone has said it, the answer is Bromley.

I'll try to find something a little less challenging this time.

Deduction time again, Going by the clarity of the photo, and the fact it is in black and white, I would guess the period as post war, 40's or 50's.

The side in stripes must be someone big in their day, the crowd looks huge.
so I would say Newcastle or Sunderland is one team, but you obviously cannot tell the colour of the stripes.

The other teams shirts look like either Arsenal or Aston Villa, or maybe even West Ham.

Anything correct so far Joe ?

Look like Scotland so could be Easter Road as the team kit that people suggests is Arsenal or Villa could be Hibs

The odd thing about this picture is that there is no floodlight pylon in the corner of the ground, so that indicates that it is a war time photo and possibly a southern based club, the reason being is that all pylons and such like were removed to prevent the Luftwaffe using them as land marks for bombing operations during the war.

So I am going for a south coast team, someone like Portsmouth, Plymouth, Southampton, Brighton or Bournemouth.

Might be miles off though with my assertions.

The advertising board to the left of the goal looks like a town or city name in the top left hand corner, and it looks more like Bournemouth than Brighton.

So I am going for Bournemouth.

I thought Craven Cottage actually, dunno why... And I know Scunny are behind the times but that pic would have to be from at least the 1980s to be GP.

The latter was irony

The odd thing about this picture is that there is no floodlight pylon in the corner of the ground, so that indicates that it is a war time photo and possibly a southern based club, the reason being is that all pylons and such like were removed to prevent the Luftwaffe using them as land marks for bombing operations during the war.

So I am going for a south coast team, someone like Portsmouth, Plymouth, Southampton, Brighton or Bournemouth.

Might be miles off though with my assertions.

Not Middlesbrough, Derby or Fulham.

Btw, Derby played at the Baseball Ground, whilst Wrexham are at the Racecourse Ground.

Sorry to have to correct you on that one Joe, but from 1884 to 1895 Derby county played at the Racecoarse Ground in Derby, they didn't move to the Baseball Ground until 1895. Stand to correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you may have just gone beyond the realms of 'guessable', with that one mate.
Normally these can be cracked with skills of detection and deduction. Not sure this one can.

Maybe the goalkeeper was taking the picture?

Although there are 11 players kitted out = not so sure when it was decided that a keeper had to wear a different coloured jersey?

I'll take a stab at this as    The Hawthorns, West Brom

Funnily enough, the only speedway event I have ever been to was in 1970 - and it was Wimbledon versus Halifax at Wimbledon (Eric Boocock?) was riding for Halifax.

I'm going for Wimbledon.

Think I know this, sorry if I spoil it for people but I reckon it's Fleetwood Town.

I have been there and remember the little red commentary box in the middle of the picture.

Might be confused because I have been to quite a lot of grounds but I think it is Fleetwood.

We had a mini break in Blackpool a few years back and went to a game there.

My guess is it will be someone well below the Skrill north and south leagues, maybe Evostik league. But there are three divisions of teams to guess at.

Cannot see any clues whatsoever from the photo so I will guess at Bedworth United.

I feel like I have been by there before. I can't remember who it was but I think it was somewhere on the outskirts of London. It has a veledrome around the pitch.

I'm assuming Pete that the photograph is from when they demolished it after City moved to the City of Manchester Stadium

Blimey, not many clues in this picture. The only thing I can think of to give any indication of it's location is the open space it's in, and the hilly terrain.

Probably 1930's ish.

So I will go for a black country or midlands club, guessing at Walsall.

Is it Victoria Ground Stoke ?.it had a running track  in the early days.loads of factory chimneys dotted around which makes me think it could be the potteries area. Just a guess though.

Only been there once but I remember Oldham's ground being on the edge of nowhere and freezing cold, so I'll take a guess at Boundary Park?

Is it Victoria Ground Stoke ?.it had a running track  in the early days.loads of factory chimneys dotted around which makes me think it could be the potteries area. Just a guess though.

Thats the easiest one so far. The design gives it away and although there have been additions over the years it has to be the Pavillion at Lords

I have some relations in Chesterfield and I have driven past the ground several times and it just looks familiar although I might be miles off !!.

The blue of the outside matches them as well.

I can't think they did either WOZOF,so I think it could be the old stand at pittodry (or sumat similar) at Aberdeen FC., they replaced it with the D!ck Donald Stand. Can't remember the name of the old stand.Aberdeen also play in all red, they used to play in red shirts with white shorts, but that was before my time   . If you look closely at the photo you will see young Sir Alex sat on his yellow and orange sandwich box.

Joe, I'm going to take a guess at this one. A few years back I was up in Airdrie and travelling around that area I remember a brightly coloured football stadium, only saw it from the outside, from the road I was travelling on but remember it painted in Red/Yellow. It was in a town called Coatbridge.  I cheated and Googled it and found thats where Albion Rovers play and their strip is Red/Yellow.So I'll go for Albion Rovers,Cliftonhill Stadium.Coatbridge.
