No we did not.  He is a non-scoring forward. We have those already.

yes we did no player too hold the ball up time Disley plus Kerr  gets left on the bench I was one of the many who was ashamed of our effort against part timers .
IMHO Hurst as run  out of time he has no idea how to get the best out of the team he as got as far as he is
going as  a manager.

HAHA, Hurst will be pissing himself at this post.  This is exactly what he wants, people to believe how "great" LJL is

We're excrement with him and excrement without him. The difference is he doesn't score goals and we don't actually score many with him on the pitch either.

What we need is a settled front pair, notice how much more we passed the ball with Cook & Hannah on the pitch. At least you know they'll score you goals with a sustained run in the side. John Lewis has had all season and we look just as bad without him as we do with.

I don't think we passed it any more last night at any point. I thought Cook was disappointing and as I've said before, we should be aiming for better players who have a football brain.

It's a shame it turns into Cook vs LJL debates all the time that end up with fans disliking one of them. I'm not biased to either. I liked Cook last season, although even then I used to comment on his lack of ability to hold the ball up and knowledge of how to use his body to shield the ball. But this season he's been poor whenever I've seen him, with the exception of the Huddersfield game.

Last night he was being praised on twitter by people for just doing what they slag off LJL for doing - putting himself about and winning a few headers. I don't think he offered anything last night to suggest he should be in the team. Although I accept you could say that for most of our strikers at the minute.

Maybe Tounkara is the only one "picking himself" in the side with his performances.

Maybe he's not needed. Agree with Tommy, Cook added nothing more to the game than LJL. Hard work, endeavour but ultimately no sign of any creative spark outside of the role he's asked to do.
Tonka was excellent though, though the officials were harsh with him regards his strength in holding off players. Gregory was sneaky and did much more but went unseen/unpunished.

I thought Cook was poor last night. The ball just never stuck with him, but it must be difficult to come in and impress with the odd game here and there.

Was gobsmacked when Tonk went off.

I may get slated for saying this but I think Jennings is the best striker we have at holding the ball up and bringing others into play. I'd persevere with a Jennings and Tonk as a partnership. If Jennings could manage a goal soon, he's got the best recent history of being able to get on a bit of a run of goals. I'd have all the other available strikers on the bench in all the remaining games that matter, including Southwell if any of the other 3 are injured.

I see what you mean, Jennings usually spreads the play quite well and his touch isn't bad either, but he lacks the upper body strength of LJL when it comes to holding it up against bigger defenders. Tounkara's the only striker who actually looks dangerous and as if he might create something so he's a dead cert IMO.
