Looks a fantastic bit of business when Town sold him to Hull as a 15yr old.

Could still come again I guess but evidently struggled whilst out on loan at Scarborough

Oh well least he's got a few better friendlies to look forward to at Boston United's ground - Norwich City, Sunderland (Yeah I know we play them), Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest between July 12 and July 26.

Would of been great if we could of got Norwich, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest, oh well Donny better than nothing I suppose.  We usually get the same old teams it gets boring.

Absolutely whoever talked hull into it deserves a pat on the back ( stuart)?he was a good 12 yr old a exceptional 14 yr old a average 16 yr old and a poor 18 yr old that was a quote from a former coach of barlows. Fully expect him to drift out of football where as the other gy lad at hull from what ive seen and been told hes got a big future in the game heres hoping

Do you by any chance know who the other Grimsby lad at Hull is?

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

Sorry, what more do you want? Pre-season is about building up fitness, gaining match experience in order to be ready for the new season! Or am I wrong?

Our friendlies will give us just as much, if not more than what we would get if we were to play all of these teams. You don't seriously think they'll play there first team against Boston do? It'll be reserves and youths with maybe one or two key first team players in there!

Back on topic... Jack Barlow still has time to make something of a career in professional football, this might be just what he needs. We've all seen a player released from a big club before only to sign for a smaller team and go on and make a name for himself.

is there a list of Grimsby-born players who "slipped the net" and played / are playing at a high level?

Adam Drury for Manchester City is the only one I can think of and he's played a few games for Burton Albion on loan. Lewis Norvock hasn't played any senior games I don't think.

I can't think of anyone who has been poached and is playing in the football league regularly.

Yeah you're right! Grimsby will probally do the same switching players around a lot, the friendlies build up nicely, I doubt Sunderland will put out a strong side, probally reserves if we are lucky.

Three league teams is a good enough test, the lower league teams will probally field strong teams.
