When PH finally gets his P45 from JF, I reckon we would have a good experienced manager in the form of AB IV. Surely this is the way forward. Only if he signs DN & PB mind.

AND Elding. I've a feeling, though not at all sure, that Elds has scored a goal recently so he'll do for me. If he hasn't though, forget it.
AND Groves as Assistant with Crichton AND Danny Coyne (can't be too sure) as goalkeeper coaches.

As much as I love AB, the one thing that stood out in my head from the 98 reunion at Mcmenemies was when the players said that AB philosophy was if 4-4-2 was not working then the players had to try harder to make it work. I think when you're working with better players in this day and age, then Ok fair enough, but at our level I don't think his pure football mentality would work now without something more. His decision to stick by Heywood/North/Hegarty in league 2 showed too much faith in sh!te. I don't think he's got the contacts any more. I would love to be wrong though

You've always been a little guarded in your admiration for the finest manager we've had in recent times.

I admire what AB did for our club in his first two spells in charge, when he did an incredible job. His last spell however showed how he was losing touch with modern football, and wasn't successful!
So the prospects of him coming back 6 years later, having managed no teams in the meantime, hardly inspires me!!

I asked AB if he'd ever consider returning to management at the 97/98 reunion a few weeks ago and he seemed adamant he wouldn't.

But I think he would consider it if the offer was there! Probably not a great idea, managers nowadays work 16 hour days, probably not wise or doable for a man in his sixties. I don't know if PH speaks to Alan on a regular basis but you'd think it would be a good idea to use his experience, Alan is still in house as he coaches the under 17's so you'd think their paths would cross.
