All this talk got me thinking about recent strikers and their success or otherwise.
Connell
Hearn
these two had a good season each
then we have:

Elding
Duffy
Southwell
LJL
Hannah
Ademeno
Toukara

please feel free to add any recent ones I have missed. Apart from the first 2 none have torn any trees up and again we are struggling to find the right one to get 20 goals. Why is that?

Connell did not pull up any trees before or after being at Town. (Bar the penalty that knocked Arsenal out of the Cup).  His signing was not greeted with any real enthusiasm here.

Hearn also had one great goal-scoring season and then was injured for most of the next 2 seasons.

Both players (apparently) were keen to move on soon after being at Town.

So it seems that it is even harder at this level to find and keep a good goal-scorer for one season and harder for more than 1 season.   League scouts are always ready to pounce as well.

(Scunthorpe have been excellent over the years at finding goal-scorers on the cheap and selling them on for a good profit.  But only after they have scored a lot of goals for Scunny).

Maybe we need to develop better scouting systems, if the money is there?
