World's quickest quiz.
You can ask other questions, unless said format a little bit complicated !

County are part-time nowadays so therefore are not the nearest 'professional' ground to the Mersey. Our budding quizmaster should check his questions before posting.

They get paid so they're professional. Didn't say "full time" did he.

Hmmmm, I'm sure most would consider professional football clubs to be full time only. Let's just say that it is a grey area, which does not a good quiz question make.

Dundee is hard to get for the the "2 clubs" question, unless you have a good memory. Dundee were in the semi's in the early 60s I think. Glasgow Rangers also "qualified" about the same time.

Everton won the Cup Winners Cup as far as I can recall (probably 1985 as they beat Watford to win the FA Cup in '84) But even though that season they also won the old 1st division (which was the only way to get in to the European Cup back then, unless like Forest you were holders) they didn't get their rightful place in Europe again for this as this would have been for the 85-86 season which is when all English clubs were banned from Europe after the Heysel incident This is all from memory but I think I'm right in what I've written

Then ask the right question!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it'd be presumed it was a competitive game, otherwise the first goalscorer would probably have been a builder who was putting the goals up who technically scored the first goal ever!

Why are Accrington called Stanley ?
Some kid from Liverpool came up with it while drinking some milk in the 80s and it stuck.

Why are Accrington called Stanley ?
Named after another club in Accrington called Stanley Villa and their ground was in Stanley Street Accrington. The original club was Accrington and was one of the original members of the football league but they resigned after about 5 yrs, so Stanley Villa added the Accrington name and became known as Accrington Stanley.. Or something like that.

According to my book you are close, It's says when Accrington went bust a new Accrington was formed and funded by a certain Stanley Villa, They took his name and became Accrington Stanley, It might have been Accrington Villa if they chose his surname .

Is it a trick question by any chance, I'm thinking a player who scored for his country and also scored an OG for the opposition?

It should also be said of course, that the most notable thing about Prosinecki's career was fouling Ben Chapman to give us a penalty

The guy you are talking about Pete is a Stanley Wotherington. After AS had gone into liquidation in1966 it was started up again in 1968 by this Stanley Wotherington. The Stanley name of the club goes much further back. In 1888 the town had two clubs,Accrington and Stanley Villa, Accrington playing in the football league for five years before disbanding. It was at this time Stanley Villa took on the Town name and became Accrington Stanley and they dropped the Villa part.

You are right Grimal, I must have had too much wine when I read about that, Just read, 1891 Stanley Villa formed, This club renames itself Accrington Stanley 1893, 000PS !!!!!!!

Two of the greatest goal scoring forwards ever, Alberto di Stefano and Ferenc Puskas both played for Real Madrid when they were winning European Cups for fun in the late 1950's.
What unique international experience did they share, and why?

Di Stefano and Puskas did play for more than one country. Puskas was, of course, part of the 1953 Hungarian team who gubbed England 6-3 at Wembley - the Magic Magyars as the press dubbed them. Puskas was known as the Galloping Major, and went to Real Madrid after the Communist uprising in Hungary in 1956, hence his turning out for Spain for a handful of games because his former international career was effectively finished because if he returned to Hungary he would not have been allowed to leave again.

I think there has been a few more since. Diego Costa was born in and played for Brazil before playing for Spain at the World Cup.

Bendtner against Spurs.
Correct. 1.8 seconds from when play restarted after coming on!

One for older guys, or football nerds of a younger age, what player scored 3 goals against the same goalkeeper in 12 months in 3 different games all played at Wembley?
Obviously a question that failed to grab reader's attention!!. Anyway the answer was Dennis Law who scored for Man Utd v Leicester; Scotland v England and Rest of the World v England all in 1963 & Gordon Banks in goal for all 3
