Barnet play Braintree tomorrow night, then we play Braintree the following Tuesday. Anyone know why there are random Tuesday night fixtures dotted around when nobody else is playing?

Someone somewhere alluded to it possibly being Braintree trying to get as many games out of the way before Xmas before their pitch gets ruined again like last year when they had to play 3 games a week once or twice.

I wondered as much. I've looked further on and pretty much everybody else had two midweek games in early December which could benefit us in the long run as that's a busy period.

I guess if the two clubs agree and give the league sufficient notice they can play them when they want? We don't have the concept of "rounds" at this level.

Why? It'd all go out the window when the bad weather comes anyway.

Chris Hargreaves was complaining a couple of weeks ago about the fixtures where his team was not playing when everybody else is playing, he was also moaning about the refs in league a bit surprised since he played in this league and was captain of the Torquay team that got promoted through the play offs. He should know all about the refs in this league.

Sounds a sensible plan to me. We're always complaining when we've got too many games to play because of success in the Trophy and cancellations of away games in Jan/Feb.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I think it's impossible to have Rounds with the FA Trophy being the way it is. Or the FA Cup which some teams always get to Rounds 2 and 3 in. You also have some teams who have big county FA tournaments (the eqivalent of the Lincs Cup)  which they take part in. Put all those things together with the weather and I think there's no chance of playing all the games in Rounds. So far the season has gone like clockwork though. Silly Season starts soon though!
