They did put up a statue of Keegan but it  resigned and walked off its plinth within a few weeks

They wanted a statue that represents what all the Geordie fans adore, look up to, & represents the embodiment of what being a Geordie is all about.

Apparently it was a close run between Shearer, & a bottle of Newcastle Brown.
