Need clarification on colour of Hi viz required.
Is there a 'home' and 'away' colour. I am actually in possession of a yellow, an orange, and a green one. Which is it for Alfreton?
I don't want to get mistaken for one of their fans ??😉

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I have just called the Alfreton ticket office in the hope that more tickets will be released but the very friendly office staff were not forthcoming on that.

We got chatting about the game and they realise that there will be a massive influx from Town, something they are looking forward to, obviously because of revenue, but they also said it should be a great atmosphere. So they are as excited as us about the game.

Anyway, then I mentioned the HiViz theme, which they were aware of. I was chatting away in a jovial manner but the mood changed at the other end of the line. Apparently the Police are really worried about 2500 town fans arriving in HiViz. Their concerns are that the real stewards will not be visible amongst all of the HiViz in the ground, leading to safety issues. They are considering dressing the stewards in something different to distinguish them from the crowd. One idea was Alfreton team shirts but that was discounted as it would clash with the players. Another was Derby team shirts but they thought that would antagonise the fans so that was discounted too. They are considering getting a rush order made of a HiViz striped jacket, alternating between pink and orange, with a V-neck and large lettering on the back, stating ‘I’m a Steward. God knows what the bar staff will have on the back of their jackets!

The Police reckon it will be an elf an safety issue too, saying that too many HiViz in close proximity will be too bright and will cause temporary blindness on the pitch, especially if the sun is shining. They are monitoring the weather closely and have asked the Met Office for regular updates.

Alfies manager is considering Edgar Davids style glasses to combat excessive glare. Apparently he is hoping that PH will not have thought of this and will give them an advantage. It’s okay though guys, I’ve emailed JF and asked him to tip off PH and make sure he has his Raybans.

Anyway, watch this space, all will become clear.

In all seriousness I did wonder whether there'd be a problem around the real stewards remaining identifiable in a sea of hi-viz when the idea was first suggested.
