A friend of mine has produced a short film trying to highlight the issues faced by homeless people and how they are perceived by the general public. Have a little watch if you're interested, only a minute long http://genero.tv/watch-video/39759 You can spot me in it if you're eagle eyed.

I liked the way it was done and came across quite powerfully.

There are good and bad people worldwide and the message of wanting a change is exactly the direction the homeless situation should be addressed.  A high percentage of people living on the street are ex forces and it certainly pulls at my heart strings to see people struggling.

The majority of people at some point in their lives, need a helping hand, some fall further and need more help.

Remember watching a documentary a while back that many ex forces have little if any  psychological provision and many struggle adapting to life on civy street after being in their words "killing machines".There are cases of people committing suicide and people attempting it. Really sad

The mental health of Forces personnel has improved ten fold over the last 10 years.  Tinymariner will be able to give more details but one of the main reasons forces personnel struggle when they first come out is the conditioning they have under gone for years.  You exist in a world were there are limitations placed on you at all times.  When you leave the shackles are off and some people can't handle it.  You often hear of prisoners who can't deal with life on the outside and re-offend to get locked up again.

I watched this charity video thinking it was a comedy for a few seconds until you realise what it's saying:
