A player with his talent would normally be seen at least 2 divisions higher. We're very lucky to have him - and huge credit to Hurst who has proved over and over again what a sharp eye he has for a good player.

Yeah he'd make a good scout.

Oh come on, another who seems to think Hurst "has an eye for a good player".

He is not the only manager out there who has and when Arnold played for Alfreton, I could see he was a good player so does that mean I should be managing GTFC.

I would imagine that there are a few on this forum who are capable of spotting a decent player. It's the ability to get that player to sign for you which can prove difficult and to keep within the constraints of your budget.

Ok, i'll take the bait......... Please compare the transfer acquisitions of Neil Woods, our previous non-league permanent boss, with those of Paul Hurst.  Then reconsider your silly post, and what the original poster meant.

Well Cambridge obviously didn't think he was good enough as they were prepared to offload him! As someone also previously mentioned, it's not only spotting someone's potential when others don't - it's also having the pursuasive ability to get them to come to Grimsby.

Oh yes pick out one manager out of all the other managers in the leagues, now who is being silly.

Neil Woods was an absolute crap manager.

What I was having a go at is all this nonsense that his spouted sometimes about Paul Hurst who some seem to think he is the only manager out there who can spot a good player or instill a good team spirit.

What about Newell? He first brought him here for a look but passed him over, back then he was clearly a better prospect than the guy that Newell prefferred and offered a deal to who was??.....bonus rep score for the first correct answer...
