I was wondering if anyone has bought the latest football manager and how they are finding it. I invested in it at the weekend like I do each year and have enjoyed it so far in my Grimsby save. Currently got us to top of the league half way through my first season although that is constantly trading with us and Tranmere changing positions, with the rest 6 points behind. Finding there are less annoying things this year, no stupid keeper passes for example and so far I would recommend it.

Promised myself I wouldn't be Grimsby this year and have kept it so far. I know I'll relapse soon enough though.

Does anybody else just do one save and see were you end up. I always start with town and then Work my way up the leagues either with town or bigger club I haven't started as any top team in any one saves since fm2005.

I've not bought it for a while as it got too time consuming, but I'm tempted by the tablet version. Anyone know if it's any good?

Don't particularly like this one, I've done a couple of saves with town - been about 9 points clear at Christmas and end up losing in the Play-Offs

Sleep well Icey, Matty and Richard. Keep each other company up there xx

I got the tablet version for 2015 and found it good but no way near in depth as the full version.  I started my game with Town but soon got sacked, about February time.  Took over at Telford and kept them up, decent progress each season for two years before Rochdale approached me just about Xmas time after their manager left of his own accord.  Took over and had a very easy promotion to League One that season, so easy in fact that I made no changes at all to their side or tactics.

Flew straight through League One and took a few years to establish in the Championship before winning promotion via the play-offs.   Finished 6th and 7th a couple of times, 4th the year after for Champs League and then in the final season I played little old Rochdale won the Champs League, Prem and FA Cup.   Town were still struggling in the Conference, serves them right!

For me the joy of the full version of Footy Manager is the sheer depth of the player database and discovering that incredible talent in the lower leagues of the Somalian reserve leagues.  You don't really get that on the tablet version.  That's to be expected and the level of detail overall is far less, definitely when it comes to tactics and player roles.   Maybe it's because I've played them so little but I've found the more recent full versions of FM very difficult, especially at lower league clubs.  The tablet version was very easy in comparison.  A policy of giving contracts to youth lads who were quick got me promoted from League One to the Prem, once there using the wonderkid list to buy as much cheap talent as you can.

Flip side is that it's far easier to pick up and (most importantly) put down.  Full version of FM is engrossing and you lose hours and days.  This one I tended to play twenty minutes here and there, probably became the 'toilet read' for a couple of months.

I think I paid about £4 for a it, more than worth it.

I usually only buy an FM release every few years, think this year is my time to pick up a new one to be honest.

Am I the only one who hates playing as Grimsby, it may be because I am a distinctly average Football Manager but I always find i struggle with us and I stupidly take it personally when the fans turn on me.
