Seems as I wasn't alive at the time, but is anyone getting a feeling of the 97-98 season?!

Nor was I, but I feel as if it's going to be another lottery of the play offs, I don't think the FA trophy final will have the same effect on people as in '98.

Not for me, that team didn't chuck in the occasional lamentable performance, those guys may have lost a few in the last three months but not in that way!

There's a lot of talk about our slow starts recently, but that team won one of its first eight matches and that was in the League Cup. That came after a really good pre-season where we beat a couple of Scottish premier league teams (Aberdeen and Dundee Utd (?) The run from October through to early January was pretty fantastic though with Town fighting on FOUR fronts (This team now have it easy on a measly two!) I remember sitting at the York 0-0 draw (which should've been played on the day of Diana's funeral but was moved to the Tuesday) fighting sleep!

There are a few similarities with two teams then breaking away (Bristol C and Watford). We only drew at home to Bristol (opening day of the season) and lost at home to Watford.
The 4-1 hammering by Bristol City away was amongst the worst performances I've seen from a Town team-albeit a lot further up the greasy pole.
Where I hope it will differ is that we will do a lot better at the business end this season than in 1998 where we virtually knew before the JPP final that we were destined for the play offs

In a way, that season can never be repeated.  Our first visit to Wembley is always going to be special.  Then it was followed by our first play off final.

However, regaining league status will be more massive for the club than getting back into old Div One.  In that respect, if we could go up via Wembley it would be amazing - I will never forget the feeling when we took the lead against Bristol Rovers!  (And the feeling when JPP missed).

I suppose you could have said that at this stage in 2013/14 as well.
