It might be a genius move. The team were faltering. Often a new manager gets an immediate short-term reaction, which is what they need just for the three play off games. Given their money, they could also afford to bring in a big name, just on a temporary basis.

Hope I'm wrong!

Will there be a documentary, "Ady Pennock - the impossible job"?  Seems an odd time to sack him and as someone mentioned above it's like Wilkins at Fulham in 98.  That said, with the amount they've spent they probably expected automatic promotion.  Wonder who they'll get and how long they'll last.  I think Keegan is available.

Hmmm !  " Keegan the Vegan " , it's got a bit of a ring to it ..

He was blasting the team only the other day, maybe that has something to do with it.

He also blamed his own club for being unprofessional and labelled the New Lawn pitch as a disgrace. FGR have been without a groundsman for over a month - with Pennock himself having to help maintain the pitch.
Probably an excuse for poor recent performances I know.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Reading that it would appear that the majority are in favour of him going.

Would you Adam & Eve it, finishing second and the fans wanting him gone.

Only happens at Grimsby

Given their track record of managerial appointments I'd be surprised if they get in anyone decent for three games. Touch wood.

Sometimes I wonder if our Directors grew a pair would they have sacked Hurst?
Probably not got the bottle.
How qualifing for the play-offs 4 seasons running constitutes a good job done if beyond belief.

IT IS FAILURE WHICHEVER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT.

begining to sound like the Arsenal

Will be interesting to see if it galvanises them as a similar strategy was mooted on here.

Hopefully not enough for them to skidabble us thats all I'm really bothered about!

When I was a low point (weren't we all !) following the defeat against Braintree I actually though we should do exactly this, fire Hurst and get someone in to try and give us a boost in the play offs.

However, my reaction to this news is that it looks like sheer desperation at FGR. They must be in a real mess, and the loss of form we have seen recently is not some fluke but an indication that there are very serious morale issues.

Sometimes a new manager has a 'honeymoon' period where things turn round, but hard to see it happening in this case, a week before the playoffs.

This is a real gamble. It might demotivate the players further. I think we will be playing them in the semi, so I do think this is more likely to good news for us.
