Hurst signed him untill the end of the season, if Hurst really thought he was that good why didn't he give him an 18 month contract?  Like he did LJL when we signed him in the January transfer window?

Hurst thought he was good but he might have turned out rubbish. Also, maybe Nolan thought he was good and just needed the right stage.  He might have only wanted 5 months to put himself in the shop window.  It was clear at Wembley that he is a player who likes the big stage.

Left a bitter taste this one. Feel like he used us, ok it's what's best for his career but can't help but feel like he owed us a year after picking him up off the footballing scrap heap. I don't really want to conform like the rest and wish him well, in fact I hope he falls flat on his face at Chesterfield.

But that's football I guess. Paul Hurst picked him up out of nowhere and I'm sure he'll do the same with his replacement.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Yes because i'm lazy and moving house is a right pain in the bottom

Would imagine that he will be much closer to home, as well as playing a league above, as well as a longer contract as well as more money. it's a no brainer. at least if hurst knew it was coming he will have had a few more weeks to assess his options. can't see disley or clay playing every week so looks like we're going to have a complete new midfield

Owes us nothing, played his part in getting us promoted and now moving on to better things, we did not improve his game it was just that he knitted in to our style better than Wrexham and Lincoln.

Best of luck Jon, we move on

Depends on circumstances. If I'd been performing poorly for a number of years and a company took a punt on me and resurrected my career, truthfully I'd be inclined to stay with them for a little longer at least as a show of gratitude.

You're right that it's a short career and I do genuinely wish him well as he's played a big part in getting us back to the FL. He has absolutely every right to get the most amount of money available to him. I just feel a bit more loyalty to a man who has played a huge part in rescuing your career wouldn't have gone amiss, maybe I'm old fashioned.

Fair play to you then.
Personally I would do exactly the same as him, look after No. 1.
