Do you own the Tilted Barrel? It's the only explanation I can think of for wanting him back here.

I liked Cook, I felt he simply reacted badly to being dropped. He should've handled it better granted but some of it was undeserved in the first instance.

Clearly a good player and I hope he does well there and continues to prove people wrong.

Ultimately didn't produce the goods for us but showed he had potential.

I wish him well but expect Hurst will find better for our L2 campaign.

He was only about 22 when he signed for us
He definitely isn't a target man and isn't going to finish top scorer, so baring in mind Tranmere want to win the league, whats the point?! Hardly see him as a super sub
Fan of Cook but he'll be a dud at Tranmere you would think. He needs to play every game

Christ you all wanted him sacked a few months ago. 6th place finish and he's now the messiah and can do no wrong
Update:  I think I've got this right - He was the messiah. He then wasn't. He then was again. Then it turned out he actually wasnt. He turned into one big huge messiah again. Now he's not actually the messiah we thought he was . Now I'm hoping he rises again quickly

I liked Cook but he clearly liked a pie and a pint too much. He looked pregnant at one stage and Hurst didn't think he worked hard enough. Don't think his ability is in question.

Many on here didn't think he was National League standard but he has just scored 24 league goals this past season nearly 10 more than Omar Bogle so he cannot have been that bad.

Some players thrive at some smaller club with lower expectations, less pressure and where opposing teams don't set up so cautiously.

I think Cook will end up fitting this category. See Brett Williams also, loads of goals at Aldershot but barely any at FGR. You face different challenges when teams are deeper against you and you're marked tighter.

I don't believe Cook had the technical ability or intelligence to play regularly at a team fighting for promotion. He may prove me wrong but I'd see his level at mid-conference level teams.

I know I am getting on in years but I don't believe in looking back (only in the odd nostalgic discussion about former highlights). Too many on here and some town fans generally live in the past. My advice is let it go and look to the future. New opportunities, new players, new opposition and new higher standards. That is where we are now. A big challenge but one we have to grasp and recruiting ex players and has beens will only take us backwards.

I could understand it to the back end of our Championship years, you know chasing Jack Lester etc but how could anyone seriously want any of the freeloading failures from the worst ten or so years in our history!?! Absolutely unbelievable!

If someone can get the mental side of his game right they'll have an absolute beast of a striker on their hands.

There were spells in his first season here where he was almost unplayable, one game sticks out in my memory on a Tuesday night at home.  Town were losing 1-0, can't remember who it was against, but Cook came on with about 20 to go and just destroyed their defence, grabbing two goals along the way.  The Huddersfield cup game was another game where he was on fire, think that was his second season though.

Problem is that his head was never quite right here.  He was more often than not carrying far too much timber and by all accounts was incredibly homesick.

Pouton might not be around but god how we could do with a him or cunnington type in the middle of the park. Box to box, great engine, excellent tackler and an eye for a goal as well. That was pretty much dizza up until the last 12/18 months but not now he has had to change his game.

Cook's problem with us (other than laziness and consequent lack of fitness) was that he was generally played as a target man and just wasn't up to the job. He wasn't much cop at holding up the ball and laying it off, didn't win too many headers with his back to goal and generally didn't look strong enough to cope with big defenders. Would have been a better player if he'd put some work in at the gym as I always thought half a stone of muscle around his upper body would have made him a different prospect to deal with.

However, if he couldn't even be bothered to train hard enough to get match fit, he was never going to put the extra graft in elsewhere. From what we saw of him last season, it didn't appear much had changed since he left us though he's again got a good goal return so obviously has some ability. I suppose a lot depends on how much effort he is willing to put into training.

Did well to bang in so many goals playing for Barrow. If Tranmere play to his strengths he may well do well for them.

But we need to be looking at far higher quality players.
