Scunny's site has a live text box but no commentary. We have something 'live' on MW, probably just text, but not yet.  Newey to start, apparently.

Am really drunk off at Humberside for comletely ignoring this game, because none of the teams in it begin with an H.

Frankie Artus goes down under a challenge on the egde of the box to win Grimsby a free-kick in a good area. Hatton strikes the bar with it (via Slocombe's fingers - what a save!) before Greg Pearson sees his rebound saved athletically by Sam who sprung up off the floor in order to get to it. A third Town man (I didn't see his number/name) then turned the ball in but the linesman's flag quickly halted Grimsby's premature celebrations.

sodomist!

Positive moment for them, as Anthony Elding reminds us of Grimsby's presence in this game (they've not really seen much of the ball, or done much with it when they have had it up until now) by hitting a twenty-five yard shot towards goal that has Slocombe well-beaten. It hits the hoarding immediately to the side of the goal.

they've not really seen much of the ball, or done much with it when they have had it up until now ??

Hit the bar, had the ball in the net, and NOW SCORED !!!!

It's rather odd. A quick summary of the actual chances shows that Town are probably doing pretty well. McKeown doesnt seem to have had a real save to make and the Town fans are singing 'can we play you every week'. Is Fansy doing the text updates ?  ;D

Turn-turn-turn from Duffy who then finds Walker infield about thirty-yards out from goal. He hits it first time, and forces McKeown into a save he wasn't expecting to make. What a strike from Walker that was! But, to no avail.

This guy just can't credit McKeown with a great save can he ? A save he wasn't expecting to make ???? Where's FFS, he's needed.....

Deflected Jimmy Ryan shot saved by McKeown. Grimsby then break but thankfully their winger puts far too much power on his cross. Considering I live in Grimsby, 3-0 might just be a goal too far.

Because of several factors

1. They haven't got a big enough squad to play 2 games
2. They lost in the final last season do the lincs FA decided to give them an advantage by sticking them in the finals.
3. They are shite

Are we taking it seriously?

We only have 17 pros at the club, apart from youths in our first two games we have only used the pros in the 3 matches since (excluding Fleming), not sure how tonight was meant to be any different other than playing youths, except the played last night so wouldn't be fit for tonight.

so we are not taking it seriously as you think, just another warm-up match using the only players available to us, who happen to be better than Scunthorpe's

Are you going to tell that to all who attend at Sincil Bank next week? Because last years final was pretty entertaining. Jeez, we draw with Gainsboro and it's the end of the world with some people, you then win a League side in a friendly match that actually has a reward at the end at the end of it and you can't show a little enthusiastic appreciation.

Well done Town, i'm lifted by this display. Nothing more, honest.

Do you mean the fans or the players aren't taking the cup seriously.  As a fan I'm with the players I couldn't give a fook if noone else is taking the cup seriously I certainly am simply because it gives me bragging rights regardless of the match.  I would imagine the players ARE taking it seriously lol

Yet Scott and Hurst aren't the sort of managers to let the players divvy it because it's a nothing cup. a book,
coke fiend,

a boat... which could indicate the maritime heritage of Grimsby, Grimsby Town also found it plain sailing in their match tonight beating Scunthorpe United who play in Scunthorpe... a middle of nowhere hell hole garden town renowned for its massive percentage of habitual drug users, the book could be the piece of literature associated with the aforementioned football match..a matchday programme, a programme is also what habitual drug users get put on when on their last chance saloon of a poor criminal record from the judge and jury, if you isolate jury from the judge and place it next to the programme with a crinimal record you would come up with Juke Box Jury, a long gone entertainment show destined to the scrap heap of light entertainment....to get something to the scrap heap you would first throw it into the bin !!

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! ....is it Dusty Bin Marinette??

Bravo!

That was a great save aswell.

Lincs cup hasn't been taken seriously by many fans for decades but a win over smug and snidey arseholes is sweet.

This.

I can't imagine any Liverpol fans playing pre-season tournaments against Everton not taking it seriously, or Spurs fans not taking a game against Arsenal serioulsy. Same for us against these muppets. It's local rivalry and to beat the sCunts is always heartwarming. We'll have chance to beat them in the league soon as well.

Their small group of vocal fans were well up for giving it the billy-big-spuds before the game and while they were at 0-0. However, they sarcastically clapped our achievements after we scored. I like the response to them berating we were non league "1-0 to the Blue Square team" - as much as I liked it I still can't sing along to anything that reminds me of the league we are in...
