How is it? We've been getting hammered in the middle of ther park.. Disley has been in fantastic form and we were 3-1 down and playing poor. Southwell isn't exactly a talisman and whatever the managers decision is for the benefit of the team. Completely imature shocking behaviour from Southwell and i imagine he's fluffed his chances of a start in the near future.

What a truely shocking decision. Why 'rest' Disley in the first place, showing the fans you blatantly do not give two shits about winning or losing. We are in a poor financial position and going through to the next round is something you expect. Southwell is 18/19 years old for intercourse sake, if your going to give the guy a chance don't let him suffer for your own naivety 20 mins in.

Because it saddles him with the blame for Town's terrible start to this game when the responsibility lies with the defence and midfield. He's barely had a chance to touch the ball and has been substituted. The managers only have themselves to blame for this situation by picking a weakened team. They shouldn't have started Southwell if they don't have enough confidence in him.

Weakened team. Hannah couldn't play, everyone was clambering for Thanoj to start the rest were forced on us. Typical hysterical reaction - and it's all Scott's fault. Pathetic.

What? We've just shipped 3 goals in 15 minutes and the managers have likely just ruined a striker's confidence. Are we meant to pretend that everything is fine because we've been on a good run lately? A good cup run would make a massive difference to the club's finances, we shouldn't just accept this performance because we're doing ok in the league.

I completely see your point mate, he won't feel good at all. But for him to think he's getting the blame when he hasn't touched the ball would be silly. I do think Disley should of started in the first place, but the managers know the players better than us and we do appear to be playing better with Disley on. I was referring mainly to Southwells reaction, he's not Balotelli, surely you would just do as you were told and cheer the team on.

Oh yeah of course his reaction was unprofessional but I can't blame him for it really. I'd probably try and do the same if I was in his situation.

I understand that a lot of the choices were forced upon us. That is worrying that we're losing 3-1 the second we don't have our best side out. A big thing for me though is the fact that we had these forced changes, yet still shoot ourselves in the foot by dropping our captain who we then bring on after 20 mins and destroy a young lads confidence.

In the meantime we keep on the other option to take off in Elding, the same Elding who's not arsed about staying at the club. Southwell is clearly desperate to play and is clearly upset by the decision, that can only be damaging to him.

We shouldnt accept the performance no, but to do nothing about being 3 down is not on either, I think it's a sign that the managers aren't accepting the performance that they make a change at 30 mins.
I feel sorry for Southwell but I'm more bothered about sorting the performance than with someone's feelings.
No player is more important than the club.

Fukin sort yeself out you mug. He's a young lad who's drunk, Toot or Ploot should have explained to him the reasons why they dragged him off. Slap anyone who isn't arsed about being subed after 20 mins.

Some people do baffle me.
Southwell needs to man up and take it on the chin instead of sulking and heres why..

Its a tactical change, we can all see that!
If it had being a straight swap for a striker then I can see why he'd be drunk off.

If he's not willing to take one for the team, no matter how old he is, he shouldn't be at the club.

Probably just reacting badly and will regret his actions later by trying to walk down the tunnel, I certainly hope so anyway.

Why have half the STH decided not to attend ?

Do they not realise that when the players come out onto the pitch,

They might assume , not many interested in this game, so that puts negative thoughts in their minds,

Hence, that could be the reason we were 3-0 down after 17 mins,

Well they are fighting back now , so come on town !!!!

2-4 but in fairness we had to go for it and almost made it 3-3!  Poor start and some blame must go on management regarding team selection, but, they saw the mistake they had made and changed it!

Move on, its the cup and as much as I'm disappointed ....... its just the cup!

The Football league is where we want to be so now lets be totally focussed and take the positives out of the game in that we battled and showed that we can keep the ball and hurt teams.

One good thing anyway,

We can concentrate on the league now.   8)

Onwards and upwards UTM

lol macca nearly scored ... well 4-2.. its a blessing in disguise i reckon. We weren't exactly going to go on a steaming run. We ot enough money for bennett, connel, increasing gate receipts (for confrence) etc so i'm noty bothered .. if that was a league game i'd be fuming.

We've got enough money??? Bloody hell, I wanna live in your world because here, on planet earth, we are skint....  ??)

Management to blame for team selection? How?

Pretty much 1st team apart from Thanoj for Disley, who people have being crying out to get on the pitch.

Let's hope that's got the unlucky stuff out of the way, only Town could push their keeper up in added time, have it cleared agonisingly off the line and concede from it. As long as we bounce back on the League and beat finally feckin' Kiddy in the next league meeting I'll be happy.

I wanted a cup run but it wasn't to be, look at Lincoln, a tricky replay at Halifax which they'll probably lose and a red card and 3 match ban for one a Lincoln player.

We are skint but johns still wasting 0000's on the pipe dream that is the new stadium. That is never going to get built especially with the new set back. Hasn't he learned from great coats ?

Good on him though for keep plucking away but let's be honest who seriously believes we'll get one within ten years?

Not as skint at you're making out, every highly saught after in form player last season who had great seasons "Cook and Thomas, Miller and Soares, Hearn etc..... we paid for, not to mention we've always got funds to bring in the likes of Hannah, Neilson, Pond, Townsend etc. Yes in "your world" we're skint.... but when in rome mate... we clearly have better funds than 90% in this league. All i was saying is that you're looking at round 23 or 4 to start getting decent funds which could make a difference .. and as we saw a Salisbury last season, it;s unlikely to happen for us in the FA cup... so let's concentrate on the league.

Erm, it's not me making out we are skint... It's the accounts and JF etc, maybe you can let them know if we aren't and point them in the right direction to find our riches...

What? mate just read again. I've not said we're loaded, i've said that taking into account the recent transfer market we clearly have enough to compete in this league. Anyway maybe you have inside account figures .. but le';s concentrate on the football, i reckon this is a blessing to be fair, we've been great in the league recently and maybe Hatton can use the future FA cup breaks to go for a run lol

Having read some of the posters on here earlier they would have had Scotty tar and feathered yet our once acclaimed Mr. Messiah on the radio applauded the managers for making a tactical change that almost paid off. We made a real fist of it in the second half but it wasn't to be after a terrible start.

We must stop this hysterical reaction to when we lose or play badly. It was the same against Dartford and yet we went and won two tough away games. It is there have to be a sacrificial lamb for every bad day at the office.

that was very poor imo, BUT at least we can now focus on the league but worrying about some of our back up players who looked quite poor
Posted by: Maringer, October 20, 2012, 6:05pm; Reply: 128
Keystone Kops defending for the first 20 minutes with individual errors costing us goals.

A good showing after that though Disley's enforced substitution meant our options for a change were very limited. Thanoj was dead on his feet for the last 20 minutes and I'm sure he'd have been replaced by another player had the opportunity been there.

A lively attacking performance for spells but I'm disappointed that we didn't test their very-shaky looking keeper anywhere near enough.

;D ;D ;D ;D I agree with you I also think S&H got thier selection right they went for the best that they had for the game.
One is allowed to be worried a bit about certain players when the 3 lone ranger go back think S&H will have to bring in new players for next season.
Myself I enjoyed the game at least they showed fighting spirit with out 3 top players anyway we can now get back to concentrating on the league anybody got any  prices for the bookie on towns chances.utmm.

Not just the goalkeeper but both central defenders making alot of mistakes. On the one hand im actually pleased. I know the fa cup can bring big matches but we could still be playing someone like rochdale in the 3rd round, so really im happy to skip it this one season to just focus on the league, I hope we lose the first game of the fa trophy aswell, once again theres positives that can come from the cup but for me its all league this season.

The downside for me is that the backup players who were given chances today didn't look like they were taking advantage of that chance, which makes you start thinking that maybe the squad depth isn't what we thought it was. Maybe it was the tactics today but if we lose disley or niven and have to bring in thanoj or artus I can't see them slotting in and keeping the way we play going.

But we could've been playing Arsenal...There is prize money at each stage of the cup. It is a disaster that we won't see any of it!

You are right, but theres also the chance that we might now get an advantage if say teams like luton are through and then play cup games and have to play more games and get an injury or two. Theres a few positives and I think disasters a bit of a harsh word for missing out on what mightve been but probably wouldn't have been.

The young lad Hatton had a stinker today, what worries me is that our strikers do not look capable of scoring. How Cook scored a hatful of goals last year I have no idea how

Plenty of balls played to him and a hatfull of crosses from either wing.

My dad is more mobile than Cook and Elding and he walks with a stick ..

I am praying for Hearns miracle recovery.

Got to say Nielson was different gravy today.

Watch out for Police with Tazers then  ;)

Elding's inability to jump is dumbfounding, are his boots lead lined to stop him floating away or something.

Tried to sign Elding on football manager

His skill level was 0 on everything other than shouting at other players which he got 20 / 20

At least it's a start
