Many reporters claiming that the decision has been made to sack Moyes. Obviously not particularly important to us but thought I'd mention it!

Moyes was well out of his depth at Man Utd. He achieved fook all at Everton, so what made Fergie believe he was the man for the job I don`t know.(icon_rolleyes)

Can't argue with that. It'll be interesting who I support at the World Cup. Right now I'm Spain through and through but I'm starting to think I'd be better off cheering on Brazil and Argentina.

I'm not sure suggesting many Man Utd fans have only supported them due to their success is that satirically sharp is it? Up there with claiming that they're not from Manchester and Scousers are thieves. Of course you're right that they could be genuine.

Bit surprised they've taken the plunge to elbow him. Made it harder for themselves with the massive contract and the talk of how they're unlike other clubs and would give him time. Obviously don't trust him with the cheque book this Summer.

It's a good parody but there's half a truth in it. Remember the guy who was on here a year ago saying he was going to watch Hull this season because it was better value for money. Wonder if he did it?

Well obviously yours are the highest standards Rodley, but I thought the Twitter accounts satirised both Man Utd and some of their fans (come on, we've all met them) and Twitter in an amusing and clever way. Obviously, if you think it's stereotypical and hackneyed, then I must be out of touch and a poor judge.

Exaggerated spoofs of fans maybe but then we are dealing with a strange new breed of fan that believes that high profile displays of bombast and idolisation (The Chosen One banner) is the height of football "fandom"  (if that's a word).
That they're then let down and embarrassed by their sporting "Gods" leaves me in no doubt they will jump ship, you don't want your successful-team-supporting workmates taking the p**s on Monday morning, after all.

Can't believe a club would let their outgoing manager decide who his successor will be, as good a manager as Fergie was.

Moyes record at Everton was good but not special, and the Old Trafford job was just too big for him. Expect him to appear at Villa or Newcastle, or some such mid table Premier league side.

Martinez has already made Everton a better side than Moyes ever could, and is a much more modern and progressive manager. Just the type Man Utd need in fact.

Also they had to do it when the NYSE was closed to avoid a share value slide, hence the reason It's this morning.

Absolutely ridiculous when it has come to this.

That's the crux of it. No European football is not good for the shareholders. Still, Moyes will walk away with 5 years pay. Not bad work if you can get it.

I can't remember where it was, but I read something yesterday which suggested a clause existed in his contract to the effect that they could get rid and not pay up his full contract if they faild to qualify for the Champions League. Sunday's results meant that it was impossible for them to qualify.....Sure he won't be in the queue at the local soup kitchen but mayeb won't be receiving a full 5 year pay up!

Didn't know that. Obviously they had catered for that eventuality and were just waiting for him to fail to qualify for the Chumps League.

As you say, he aint on the bones of his ar$e, and will be back in a job soon. Plenty of struggling Prem clubs will be lining up for him already.

Klopp has distanced himself from it already apparently; sensible move IMO, why would he leave a club in the Champions League where he is adored to go to a club where instant success will be expected? Same reason for Simeone, he's already at a better club (at this moment in time, not historically) because he could well win the Champions League and La Liga, whereas United are 7th.

If he left to take the United job, that would be a real smack in the face for PSG - to have their manager taken from them by a non-CL club, after having possibly won the double and got to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

I'd say Blanc is the most obvious choice for the current Man Utd setup, he has the Fergy connection after all. Unless he finally cuts his overbearing Godfather position at the club it will remain this way.

Blanc and probably Giggs as assistant, Scholes as assistant-assistant etc....

Whether he would fit perfectly or not I can hardly see him walking away from Chelsea to join Man U.

For what its worth I don't think he would be that great a fit, or Simeone. Both managers are defence first and hit on the counter (in the main) with 1-0/2-0 wins being a specialism. The united fans I know have more complained at the style of play that Moyes has brought, being dour, dull and defensive. That wouldn't change with either of the above managers.

They would be far better with a progressive manager in my eyes. Somebody forward thinking and tactically flexible. They do have some excellent players who would be better being given a little bit of free reign.

650 million global 'followers' - figures which they admitted were simply based on the amount of people who had watched them on tv in one game. No recognition of whether they were watching the opposition, whether they were actually watching united or even just happened to be watching a game of football because they enjoy the sport.

I know quite a few reds over here and they pretty much all say the same thing as yourself. Martinez has been mentioned although there are reservations over whether he can spot a defensive player. Moyes left him a good defence at Everton.

Ferguson left moyes a rotten ageing squad. Ironically he said that no player was bigger than the club, yet fergy became bigger than the club himself and that's why they are in a massive mess. He said that he wanted to leave a winner so only concentrated on the short term, not really strategising for the long term.

Parallels with Brian Clough maybe when he left his Forest dynasty exposed...

When Mark Robins scored that F A cup goal (against Notts Forest I think) that kept Alex Ferguson in a job, and then the half a dozen world class youngsters (Butt, Beckham, Nevilles, Scholes, Giggs) became an integral part of the team, Alex Ferguson had a team for the rest of his managerial career. David Moyes is the fall guy for the end of that lucky dynasty, when all of those players finally expired with Ferguson. Whoever else they appoint will have the same challenges. In the circumstances , I think 7th is good.

If Grimsby could get a similar crop of young players (it happened in the late seventies), and a supportive manager - we'd definitely be on the up - simples.

Interesting stats but they don't tell the real story. Moyes inherited a squad that had just won the championship by 11 points, and spent £65 million on players.

With the resources at his disposal he should have done much, much beteer. Fourth place at the very least.

Like Neil Woods, a manager out of his depth is easy to spot.

Man Utd surely don't have to buy players in to achieve success though do they? ;)

I thought they were the prime examples of developing all their own talent from within and didn't have to resort to paying out big fees to all and sundry, buying success like their Manchester rivals (and the likes of Chelsea) did

Or maybe that's just another one of those urban myths.... :P
