Radio Humberside are reporting Lee and Sue Mullen (who won about £5 million on the Euromillions a few years back) have purchased £50k of shares in the club and indicated the money should go towards strengthening the team, which is nice of them - https://twitter.com/HumbersideSport/status/559737831401476097

could be the 50k that gets us the extra bit of quality to get us promoted !  :)

Can they dictate how the money is spent though? However, it would be nice.

That's a nice bit of news.

Did they ever get the tourists in to the area after our run of wins. Winsby etc.

How generous. Where would you like to see us strengthen?

We'll probably end up being fed some bullshit that the money has already been spent on Parslow. Sorry, I'm in a pessimistic mood today!

Well done to them, hope it is invested well. I think if I was going to give that money to the club I would put it into the Youth structure really. I think in first team terms £50k can go very quickly.

Maybe it was offered before we got the 2 lads in today and that money helped us get them in ? If it was given afterwards then briliant !!

Great gesture! What a difference a few days makes.

Two great signings and an investment made.

Let's get a result at Eastleigh now!

I hate to be curmudgeonly because £50k is £50k and better than a kick in the teeth but it's really nothing much relative to the overall finances of the squad.  I imagine today's signings will cost that in wages so maybe that is how it's being spent.  However it can't be spent on long term improvement as it's a one off.  We need someone with money to invest over several seasons.

Mr Mullen has said on RH that if Hurst sees a signing that he would like to sign and Mr Mullen sees it as a good signing then he would be prepared to invest even more!

Great stuff. We don't even have to give them a stand name like that bird at Chesterfield!

Wonderful to see some fans who've come into some money, happy to invest some of that back into the club he loves. It's come at an important time for the club as well. Thanks to the Mullens' :)

Pretty sure that Fenty said that players at this level do not earn anything like some folks probably imagine they do.. so surely 50k would be enough to net an extremely good player at this level for a year, or a couple of good players at least till the end of the season.. so 50k is a pretty decent, and well timed investment in my opinion!

I know that, as town fans we would (possibly) offer a larger more significant amount, but this can't be anything other than a good thing. It's backing not only for PH but also the squad ( and any more potential signings)

"Euromillions winners Lee and Sue Mullen have invested £50,000 in Grimsby Town Football Club.

The avid Mariners fans – who scooped £4.8 million in 2011 – have bought 500 shares worth £100 each.

The announcement comes on the day that the club announced new signings Christian Jolley and Gregor Roberston.

Lee, 44, who attends every home game at Blundell Park, said the money would be used to strengthen the squad in the push for promotion from the conference."

A great gesture and congratulations to you both.

Thank you very much Mr & Mrs Mullens.
I will be cheeky and suggest that if you help fund the new stadium, one of the stands could be called the Mullen Stand?

Humberside have interviewed Lee Mullen about his investment - https://audioboom.com/boos/2831356-gtfc-investor-lee-mullan-talks-to-jameshoggarth-about-spending-50000-today-officialgtfc

He's said that if there's another player out there that would be a great signing he would consider putting more money in. What a great man (thumbup1)

One of his investments was a certain Mr Jolley.....

I very positive thread on here for once and rightly so !! It is an amazing Gesture and anyone who thinks that 50K isn't a lot of money .............. Go Try and Earn It !!!!!    It has paid for the " Failure" in this years FAT and that cant be such a bad thing ??
and to the fella on another site who asked " why didn't you give it to Charity " ?   I suppose you give a large % of your wages to charity every week ...?

Wonderful gesture.

If I won the lottery the last thing I would do is invest in Town for the simple reasons highlighted by some posts (not just on here) about 'it's only £50k'.
