... Is the attendance for the L2 play-off final between Southend and Wycombe, both less than 50 miles from Wembley!

Nearly 10k less than ours, both less than 2 hours away...

Grimsby and proud !!

Both smaller clubs than us and Bristol Rovers. Not surprising at all (and presumably no £10 day out tickets either)

Noticed also that Wycombe didn't sell out the bottom section, but had fans in the second tier.

We had to sell out the bottom section before we got the 2nd. tier.

Another point, booking fee for all the league playoffs are £2.40 per ticket, as opposed to our £3.00 a ticket.

Southend had sold around 20,000 up to yesterday, 15,000 for Wycombe.

And Southend denied a certain penalty.....now where have I heard that recently? :(

Awful decision that. Especially after he'd disallowed a Southend goal for the same offence!

Then imagine Wembley was in Sheffield and how many we would take.

The team that scored first lost on penalties. Also same team cheated by the ref.  This would never happen to us.

That was painful to watch... bit too soon.

Can we really take any claim for the high attendance last week when we were outnumbered 2:1 and a couple of thousand maybe in the neutral area? Yes we contributed but the attendance wasn't down to us at all.

urine poor in particular from Wycombe though. I bet if you stood on top of the arch you could see Wycombe.

I see the BBC have got their priorities right. Not.

Their football website leads with Real Madrid v Getafe*.

* And I thought Getafe was found dead in a hole a few years ago.

It would not be wrong to suggest that in potential they are also smaller clubs than GTFC, we JUST.......... need to get out of this effing league!!!

I wanted Southend to stay in league 2,

Colchester to be relegated to league 2,

2 close towns for me to attend if we went up,

As it happened

Nothing happened :B

So we win the league next season and those 2 get relegated. :)

The attendance at the 2014 MLS Cup  (the equivalent of the Super Bowl) was only 27,000. One of the teams was LA Galaxy as well!
Posted by: LH, May 25, 2015, 11:34pm; Reply: 24
Equivalent of the Super Bowl in the sense of it being the last game in the MLS season. Even the high school American Football teams get more than some MLS teams. The college ones can get more than 100,000!

Wasn't there 50,000 at Kaka's first game for Orlando?

Missed out an "although" in the above post - over 62,000 at Orlando vs NYC. It is getting more popular over there as they realise that football is far superior to the sports they've convinced themselves are entertaining for many years and also less dangerous for their kids to play than american football. It'll never properly overtake NFL for popularity there though.

Attendances are going up every year. They are looking quite respectable now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Major_League_Soccer_season#Average_home_attendances

They don't have many really big clubs but it's only a matter of time,

The US Football season is so short with so few games and all on one day, there's plenty of room in the calendar for soccer.

They don't have big clubs because they don't have the continental competition as we do here. Even Real Madrid, Man Utd and AC Milan started as amateurs once upon a time. I hope it does grow there because I've got two yank half brothers who will be getting a bit of stick should we draw them in a World Cup again.
