The day the fixtures come out is always the "start" of the season for me. Hope it's a away fixture with 2000+ mariners there to show the players and the rest of the league, this is our time!

Hoping for either a home game or an away game within about 3hrs of Grimsby for a monster following.

Start of the season for me is always the first Champions League qualifer. It's only a matter of time before we'll be in one  :)

Tough to decide what a good or bad first game would be. Things feel so positive right now that any game has its positive aspects. A tough looking away game against one of the other fancied teams gives us a chance to make a statement. Also, given that we've kept the vast majority of last season's team perhaps we are more likely to hit the ground running that sides who have had to rebuild. In that case getting a few tough looking games very early on may be advantageous.

Braintree away according to the usual "leaked" first day fixtures that always come out, which usually prove to be a load of old bo###cks.

We don't do Cheltenham away on the first day of the season Gaz, although it was probably the only decent 45 minutes of football that season.

Bizarre game, the first 45 minutes we were fantastic. Then the whole season went belly up at half time and the rest, as they say, is history.

We couldn't cope with a 55-year old sub in the 2nd half!

Premier/Football league have theirs sorted by 10am, and that was prob 2 weeks ago

Why on earth do we have to wait so long!!!!

Tranmere away - some bookies favourites. Go give them a tonking and get the ball rolling.

Isn't it our turn to be at home first game? Someone said it was sequential, or is that bollox?

I think it has worked out sequential for the past five season but there isn't a rule or policy which dictates this, it just appears to be the way it's fallen.

Don't know if I can cope with all this pre season excitement even a rumour of another player signing into what as got to be the strongest team we have had for years. We have seen to many false dawns that failed so I am not that naive to  think we just have to turn up ....but this seems the most positive (even before a ball is kicked) I have ever seen the club and fans alike for a long, long time.

Can't wait for 1pm and plan mine and Harry's journeys with the magnificent black and white army.

The fixtures are clearly ready so I don't know why they've not just released them at 9am or something. Forcing us all to hang on until 1pm is utterly pointless.

I think the biro stopped working at one point and they have to wait for the tipex to dry before they can correct the mistakes too.

I don't think the Conference have even accepted ball point technology and were probably chasing a goose around for a while to get some feathers for quills.

When your playing in a league that type up its fixtures and 'rumours' about fixtures are posted all over the Internet, you know it's probably time you got out.

We've been given tough opening day fixtures in the past - Crawley away (went on to win the league), Fleetwood home (same) and Bristol R away (promoted).

If they mirror the fixtures from last season, i.e. away to a side relegated from the FL, then I'd guess Tranmere. Could obviously be Cheltenham too.

And then there's the TV factor. One of the games on the opening weekend will be on BT Sport so may as well make it a new team from the FL against a Conference big boy like Grimsby.

No reason why we can't win 9/10 of our first games and really show this league we mean business. I say 9 to give the players that very slight small breathing space for 1 slip up ;)

With a tough run in, we should certainly be looking to take 24 points from the first 10 games if we want to be champions
