Had a look at shots total in today's game and at the earlier wins We had more shots today than in either of the 4-1 wins we just didn't hit the back of the net. Most of maccs shots were at the end when we were chasing the game I think. Had we scored from a couple of the early chances then we'd have gone on and won easily again like we did in those games probably.

Grimsby v Barrow Shots: Grimsby 11, Barrow 8 - Result 4-1
Grimsby v Bromley Shots: Grimsby 12, Bromley 6 - Result 4-1
Grimsby v Macclesfield Shots: Grimsby 14, Kidderminster 9 - Result 0-2

All if's and but's unfortunately.

We also conceded 2 goals today so it wasn't just the strikers letting us down.

Also worth pointing out that it isn't just strikers who are responsible for shooting at goal, just like it isn't just the defence who are responsible for not conceding goals.

Our defending was crap for both goals, and the midfield wasn't up to much either.

If Kidderminster had 9 shots against us while we were playing Macc, no wonder we lost!

Unfortunately today Amond and Bogle wasted probably 5 good chances and their keeper made one good block from Amond, i dont really recall their keeper having any other saves of note in 90 mins despite us dominating for probably 75 - 80 mins of the game...he only had to gather a few long range efforts trickling through.
Macclesfield were woeful, very disappointed with their game overall and if, yes the very big little word, if Amond had tucked away that golden chance first half when set up from Bogle then we could have gone on to win by 3/4/5. He didnt and virtually all our other play first half resulted in poor crosses which didnt pick out a player.
Second half we got some decent crosses into players but Bogle finished like an out of form LJL and we then panicked around 70 mins in and went direct.

Two sh1t goals from a defensive viewpoint and sh1t finishing did for us....while there were plenty of changes we still should have had at least a couple of goals lead by half time...we didnt and paid the ultimate price....very deja vue.

The worst one was when Bogle slipped and completely missed what was pretty much a tap in. Lose the bloody ballet shoes and get some boots on lad!

Their keeper made a couple of decent saves. He blocked a close-range effort from Mackreth just before Bogle slipped on his rear end and then there was the one from Amond in the second half.

Other than that, pretty poor fare from the strikers with failure to get multiple efforts on target. Unfortunately, Pittman did absolutely nowt when he came on either, so that change didn't work in the slightest.

The consequences of a thread praising Bogle leading up to the game.  ;D

Yes the strikers had a game without goals, , it happens! How many matches has Rooney played for Moan Utd without scoring!?!? We go again on Sat and will score goals and win (I bloody hope so anyway!)

He did actually change his boots at half-time. He was faffing around with them in the dugout which was why he was the last one of our players onto the pitch in the second half.

Didn't help him achieve any more in the game, unfortunately!

They are "non league" level players BTW............ We need to remember that the days of Tees. Drinkall, Mendonca, and even Reddy and Connell are over for the time being and the lads at this level will possible miss more than they score.

Unless they are the opposition, then just about every shot ends up in our net.

Based upon this year fair challenge I agree.............. We also have a "non league" keeper at the moment too, sadly.
