Boreham Wood have signed striker Chiedozie from Cambridge.

Thought a thread with all the other teams signings would be ideal.

Start with Wrexham no longer being any threat at all, as they sign Simon Heslop

Not sure why Paul Hurst is trying to sign a player that he didn't feel was worthy of a start in a league game.

Why would you change a side in the middle of a 6 match winning streak?

Why would Hurst bring in a player that doesn't improve the team, as he always says that's why he brings players in. He doesn't bring players in for the sake of it.... Discuss!

Probably wanted to have a look at him and assess. He has played at a higher level but that doesn't always hack it in this league. Maybe he just isn't match fit and Hurst is giving him some time. Maybe after Saturdays miserable showing, he can't wait to get him signed permanently and in the team. Also, he is about to become a free agent. Maybe he has other options?

Who knows why?

Have to say he wasn't terribly impressive at Solihull - looked like a latter day Danny Boshell. probably needs more time than he's given at div1,2 & conference level. would prob be okay for championship if he was good enough, but otherwise conference south; i got the feeling he would be easily overrun at our level

That was my view, in fact the only contribution I can remember that he made was when he and Bogle acted like school kids arguing over who would take a free kick on the edge of the area, he then went to smack it high over the bar.

If he is signed lets hope he is much better than that.

Or maybe he wants to bring in a player who, unlike Scott Brown isn't a complete moron and got himself banned from driving as a backup for Clay and Disley?

That would be my worry about him. That he won't be used to limited time and space in this league. We seem to have a very high failure rate with ball playing centre mids.

Clay was almost universally derided on arrival but won over many once a few games were under his belt. In a similar vein I don't think Henderson has had enough game time for us to judge his ability. We can't expect every new arrival to hit the ground running.

Wasn't Conor H just originally signed as cover, in case of injuries while he also got fit from not playing regularly ?

Was rated highly when younger, but was injury prone at previous clubs - maybe another JPP where good games are intermittent with with niggly injuries?

Maybe a low cost signing as cover only?

Do we need cover? We already have Scott Brown, Josh Venney and Harry Clifton as well as Danny East who can (allegedly) play there.

We need game changers; think Pringle and Todd albeit a bit lower level now of course. Connor Townsend has been of that ilk -leagues above and if we could pull a couple of rabbits out hats it would of course be a massive boost. It's just finding them though of course or top (top?) clubs willing to let out their youngsters to the supposed 'blood and thunder' of the Conference.

The thing is the old stereotype of this division is way off and I think a lot of young footballers could grow their game at the higher clubs rather than the broken legs and bruisements the higher echelons fear would result.

The Danny Boshell comparison worries me somewhat, I never want to see bambi-on-ice-esque Nancy boys* prancing about donned in the famous black and white stripes ever again.

But I'll not be quick to pigeonhole especially as not even seen with my own eyes.

You've gotta have to steel to go with the skill however; for too long our central midfield has been comparitevely weak and you've got to impose your will to win the right to play. As we all know too well.

*apologies for the non P.C. speach was just quickest way to make point!

Agree with The OC and ReB, we need players better than what we have at this stage of the season, no point in signing anyone to make up the numbers.

The January window has to be about players who are going to make an impact on your first choice eleven. Signing players for cover is tantamount to saying they aren't good enough.

Hopefully, we sign players that are good enough to go straight in the side and some of the current first eleven can be the cover. We do have a bare bones squad IMO. Could do with a maverick Neilson type who can come on and go past people maybe?

Brett Williams' move to Forest Green is off after manager Ady Pennock refused to pay a fee for the striker.

The one-month loan deal expired after the New Year's Day victory over Kidderminster Harriers and although Rovers were keen to extend his stay, Pennock has opted against the move with Stevenage boss Teddy Sherringham demanding a fee.

Williams made six appearances during his stint at Forest Green, including three starts, and scored one goal in the 3-0 win over Kidderminster Harriers.

One thing Cheltenham have done very well so far is to win the tight games. They've won 9 matches by the odd goal. In comparison, we've won just 4 matches by 1 goal.

The question is, are they good enough to keep these narrow victories going, or will they have a sticky patch where these narrow victories turn into draws or even losses?

We need this to happen if we're to have a chance of catching them.

18 year old Callum Chettle (midfielder) and 22 year old Aaron Williams (striker) from Nuneaton from the league below us.
Aaron Williams scored 28 goals in 39 games for Rushell Olympic last season and scored 12 in 25 games for Nuneaton this season so far.

Probally sell them for a few million in a year or two.

Scunny sign Vose from Wrexham
Posted by: chaos33, February 1, 2016, 8:12pm; Reply: 105
He's good but that's a massive step up for him.

Hoping we can get to 11pm without someone pinching Amond. Something nobody is really talking about.
Posted by: Abdul19, February 1, 2016, 8:27pm; Reply: 106
I'd bet my gonads* on him still being at the club tomorrow.

* hypothethical

Two people have red crossed me for saying I hope we can retain Amond. I thought that admiration and love for Amond was the one thing every single Town fan agreed on.  :P

There is an automatic red cross for stating the obvious.  :)

Maybe they red crossed you for the bit about being a big step up for Vose?

Vose is stepping up from Conference to L1. I suppose that is stating the obvious too.

Just seen this on Sky Sports - Barnsley have signed 24 year old striker Shaun Tuton from Halifax Town on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Scored 10 goals in 24 league games this season and one in the FA Trophy. Originally signed from Buxton in the (2 leagues below) Northern Premier League.

Eastleigh can intercourse off. What'll they be paying him? Several grand a week no doubt. Makes a mockery of the league. Hope their money man felicitations off and they go bust along with Forest Green

I'm sure the idiots at the Vanarama National Leagueâ„¢ will find some excuse in the rule book to let him play should Eastleigh make it that far.

Exceptions are always made for the play offs should the team get there.

I don't get the problem with Eastleigh (or anyone else) splashing the cash. Why not be ambitious and climb through the leagues? We consistently spend more than we should but just don't seem to spend it very wisely.

If no teams did it then the tables may as well just be decided on attendance figures.

So a maximum 93 day loan can become a 96 day loan?

Hurst said in his pre-match yesterday that you would be surprised at what Bromley are paying players, which is why they have sacked the manager, feeling that he is under-performing. Teams down here seem to have a lot more cash to throw around now, which makes it harder for the likes of ourselves to get promoted.  :(

if they aren't creating the chances, he wont score.

Constable might be pushed out a little now, and he will start moaning and upset the dressing room.

he hasn't played at this level for 4 years now.

he is 31, so going down hill as we found out with Connell

And we have Amond, who is at his Prime, and Bogle who is up and coming and has massive potential.

1 player doesn't turn a decent team, into a top team IMO

Or am i finding false positives

21 goals in League Two last season. 5 in 16 appearances this season. He's only been missing out at Portsmouth recently because he's essentially just a goal poacher and Paul Cook who came in last Summer prefers a different style of forward. Yes, you're finding false positives - he'll have no problem scoring in this league.

edit: seriously? 2 red crosses for this post? refuting a point using a factual goalscoring record and some insight on Portsmouth's team selections? just intercourse off

I can understand wealthy people buying clubs and wanting to build them up etc, but the Eastleigh Chairman in my opinion is quite bizarre, he's a lifelong Oxford United fan, has a 10% investment in the club, yet he ploughs his cash into a club that has no real affiliation to him i.e. Eastleigh... is that guy for real?  Any true fan would put all his money into the club he loves and supports.

According to the above BBC link I posted, Football League regulations cap interests in more than one club at 10%.

Look at David Ross born in Grimsby, family made their fortune in this town, but helped he Leicester City.
With his friend Gary Lineker, was part of the consortium which rescued Leicester City Football Club from receivership, before it was later sold to Milan Mandarić.
