..for me, from Paul Hurst's post-match interview was not the 'fans are spoilt' comment.

When I listened last night (a tad inebriated), I will admit I was fairly irate at the spoilt comment. He comes across at best, saying something so openly condescending about fans of this club that independent observers would agree are amongst the best in the country (pound for pound) as an arrogant, perhaps a tad narcissistic (his lack of ability to ever acknowledge he's culpable for anything; being the prime case for the prosecution of that claim), man.

Even then, though - the worst, most blood boiling thing that I heard - twice, several minutes apart - was something entirely different and I'm surprised that I don't think I've seen it mentioned in any of the threads concerning his questionable interview.

He stated, "...the most important thing from today is not losing". Followed, minutes later, by "...the important thing was getting something from the game". I was under the influence when I listened and I fear for my Sunday if I were to re-listen so I apologise if a word or two of the direct quotes are jumbled/misplaced.

Paul Hurst. FFS. Please. Not losing is NOT the most important thing. Will you ever, ever, ever comprehend this fact?

It is true at the start of the season. It is true in the middle of the season. It is true towards the end of the season.

It is certainly only more blinking true when you are 10+ points adrift of the position you aspire to; at home to a team in the relegation zone.

Get a grip and stop telling me that you are happy "getting something" from the game. You shouldn't be and this is why I have always doubted your capabilities as a manager.

The "spoilt" comment was certainly condescending but could have been meant slightly less incendiarily (not a word), than it has been taken. Never admitting blame for anything you unleash onto the field is the arrrogance/narcissism thing I've already dissected.

The incessant happiness with not losing is just the over-arching, unflinching, never-swaying sign of someone born not to win.

I want Town to have a winner at the helm, I believe we need it.

I've listened to it again and clearly hurst as got to big for his boots otherwise he wouldn't have said such a thing. Finishing in the playoffs and getting beat by those massive clubs Gateshead/ Newport not so much Bristol should not be regarded as success or being spoilt,Luton had similar play off failures and didn't think it was success just to be there they rolled the dice until they got it right.even if we get promoted through the play offs which is a big if I think hursts time here is up

Luton had the biggest budget in the league every season they were in it, barring maybe Fleetwood.

Perhaps somebody should whisper in Hurst's ear that we get 3 points for a win these days. A draw is no longer a point gained and it hasn't been since 1981, it's two points lost.

It certainly is at home to a relegation threatened team. To say it was important not to lose and that it was a point gained is absurd.

Just looking at the tables and both Town and Bore 'em have the most draws of any team - 11 each

In some ways I guess a draw was on the cards given those stats but we all know there was only one team who should be happy with a share of the points yesterday and it won't be Town

Year after year we come up against teams like them who you could argue deserve to get something for their resilience.

But why do we try and fail to get past such teams all the time? Wins and the three points they bring us are what we need, not self-congratulations at coming off undefeated but with only one point to the good  :-/

Boring bollox from Hurst, but clearly doing an "adequate enough" job to keep him employed. Fentys former trigger happy finger has not been itchy for some time, but surely he must have some sense of anger about the number of draws we've had against pub teams this season.

I do agree with the sentiment behind this but I wish fans wouldn't describe teams like Borehamwood as " pub teams" !! This expression may have been appropriate many years ago when we had the old Midland League below the Football League but now we have automatic promotion thoughout the league I find it disengenous to the clubs involved. They won the right to be at this level and although it maybe the pinnacle of their aspirations, if they can survive at this level by whatever their tactics then good for them.

Disingenuous maybe, just sums up where we were when we were truly spoiled, when playing in the FA Trophy was what pub teams did and now our vertically challenged manager bases his seasons excuses on it. Being out of the title race in Feb is a step backwards and criticising the fans a step too far.

Could describe every season he has been in charge.

For me, the writing was on the wall after the first game at Kidderminster.
All this crap about "its only the first game" "I'll judge after 10 games"
Plain to see after that one game. A club in turmoil, struggling to field a team, 1000+ Town fans and we fail to get a win. Gave an idea of how things would pan out. I know you can get an exception, ala Mansfield who were mid table for half a season, but to struggle against so many relegation fodder teams cant be good for one that expects to win the title.
The introduction of Townsend changed things, as it did with Palmer last season, but normal service has now resumed

THE BIGGEST CONCERN......
We apparantly did our homework,
we knew they had the best defensive away record,
we knew how they would approach the game,

yet we didnt look like we had any idea on how to beat them. we struggled with the conditions, actually played better against the wind but the subs didnt work, the final sub in particular, i imagine Horwood took a knock but to put two square pegs in for that very poor, we needed to win so why not revert to 3 at the back, lose Horwood and slip Henderson or Clay in to make up a 5 in the middle which may have combatted their sitting No4, or bring Pearson on and put him or Toto up top for the high balls...just something a little more flexible than the 4-4-2 which didnt work.

That is a fair point. You simply have to try something different if it is blatantly obvious it is not working. Why didn't Hurst come to the touchline in the first half and change one or two things when he could see we were making no progress at all? Thinking about it, why does he spend the first half of every home game in the stands if he then doesn't alter anything to combat anything?

I am a Hurst fan, but he did my nut in yesterday.

Because Hurst won't gamble 1 point to gain 2 more. Losing yesterday in trying to win would have made no difference in the grand scheme of things but our manager doesn't think that way which is why we draw more games than just about any other team every season.

Seriously, my biggest concern is that every year we stay down here, we are digging ourselves a bigger hole to get out of. By that, I mean financially as well as on the pitch and with regard to the stadium.

We've discussed this before on here and I agree entirely with the highlighted part. It is why I joined The Trust Board because I firmly believe that we shouldn't be reliant on one persons patronage (which is in effect what we have here). Where I would differ is (if you still feel that way) is that I believe the stadium must happen regardless of the division we are playing in because all being well it should offer us sufficient financial impetus to reduce considerably the need to constantly bail us out.
I said the other week that I believed we had two seasons down here before the financial constraints started to bite properly and although hindsight is a wonderful thing the damage was done in the "misuse" by the incumbent manager at the time of the "Parachute" payments.

Actually the damage was done by the board for the misuse of keeping said manager on, and it didn't need hindsight to know it wouldn't end well.

But that's now history Barra, we are talking present and future. Is Paul Hurst the man to get promotion (doubtful), and do we stand a better chance of a stadium if we are promoted (probably!)

Only time will tell on the Paul Hurst front.

As regards the stadium, given that the club aren't funding it outright, I suspect the league we are in has very little bearing on the matter. It is about incorporation into future N.E. Lincolnshire plans for the ongoing development of the area. Some of the protesters may base their argument on the fact that a club at Level 5 don't need a new ground based on the number of fans but that betrays a lack of understanding of the bigger picture.
