not having a pop, just some questions I and some others I suspect would like answering.

1, obviously we know that we don't offer contracts until the season has ended, is this a managers decision or is it club policy ?

2, Following on from the Club Shop thread, it was suggested any feedback good and bad is reported so things can be improved on for the future, Would it be a good idea for staff to wear name badges so it is easy to identify which staff members are involved so praise can go to the appropriate person or in some cases constructive criticism, having to describe the staff member involved may lead to mistaken identity

3, what is the exact current position on the proposed new stadium and will there be architect designs/artists impressions released so members of the public can look at and suggest things.

4, been a while since a fans forum has been held, has the club been in dialogue with BBC Radio Humberside with a view to arranging one, or could the club do one ourselves ?

5, will you buy me a pint at the player of the years awards ? ;)

FYI it was never entered as i ruled lennys goal at wembley was offside.

it's frustrating the position we are in. I think (or know) Fenty is just like the rest of us. a massive fan of this club and wants what is best for it. I totally get why he's given Hurst this season as we've come so close the previous 2-3 and we have to be honest Hursts pre season recruitment each year have been pretty damn good.

Anyway, I don't expect any questions answered until after the whole season ends. It'd be nice to see how Fenty and the board see things, their views and ambitions short term and long term (depending on how this season pans out ofcpurse)

I get that Lukeo but these aren't questions about Paul Hurst future.

These are just small enquiries completely unrelated to matters on the field
Posted by: lukeo, April 25, 2016, 9:30am; Reply: 7
ok I get that but we are potentially heading into the most crucial month (s) maybe of gtfc's history. All these questions could or SHOULD be approached and answered by the club but maybe after the season. I'm sure Fenty is just as nervous worried and concentrated on the play offs as we are.

They don't seem terrible questions but as lukeo says, I don't think answering them will be a top priority this week.

Also, despite my best efforts to convince people otherwise, the latter part of the "United and we can" thread showed that the preference of Fishy posters is that Fenty does not communicate with the fans.   :-/

Your first question is a very good one davec,

Unless we have got an option to extend a players contract,

It is foolish  to let a good player walk away for nothing,

They say we can not offer them a deal until we know what league we are playing in is balderdash,

They could insert into the contract   1. you receive this amount if non league,

OR   2. this amount if we are in L2,

Simple.

The issue is if we where to offer some players new contracts during the season and not others then how would that make the overlooked one feel and perform.
Even if you told the ones offered contract not to say anything it would still get out.

I would also think some players would rather see what league we are in and what other offers they may get  before committing anyway,

Thing about the contract situation is, if a player is out of contract and the club not wishing to talk who can blame the players for getting there agents to try and secure there future, they agent says yes got so and so interested but whatever you do don't get injured meaning we have players holding back pulling out of tackles ect
Posted by: Rik e B, April 25, 2016, 12:40pm; Reply: 12
Every year we have this problem, Kenny was much maligned but imagine him with Amond and Hurst has spent all Season trying to find a target man to no avail.

Our best players get cherry picked, we should do one year deals, every one with the option of another year tied in. We pay you x amount in this league but if promoted you get a percentage increase or this higher amount.

Whether every player would want to be tied down I don't know

I see your point. However, footballers all over the world are on different rates of pay to their team mates. Why should we lose the chance to secure one of the better players at the risk of upsetting some of the lesser ones. Maybe it would spur other players to perform in the hope of securing an early contract themselves.

Makes some sense, but look at it from a player's perspective - if they sign before the end of a season, they might be overlooking an opportunity to get a better deal somewhere else. You wouldn't be (nor would your missus) very happy if you signed a deal worth £50k a year in March when someone might have offered you £75k a year in May.

IMO Podge should of been offered a new deal , would you ever see a club , OK on a different level eg Ronaldo , Messi letting a player who's scored 30 goals +  run down to potentially let's be honest almost definately in Podges case go on a free at the end of the season . Just because it might rock the boat , players should be rewarded if they perform above the norm like Podge has I'm sure all the other players would appreciate that .

this is the same scenario that the previous  Chairman at the gas were having .Higgs was a world unto hisself when it came to communicating with the punters " things are at a delicate stage" was all we had for almost 2 years, since his departure from his position the new owners are in more open talks with the punters than my dad is with me!! a totally different feeling throughout the club ,this has permeated throughout the whole fanbase and the players, been on an excellent run since the takeover and still in with a shout of going up ..... good luck you guys

Don't know the history of Mr Higgs as your chairman but I guess your recent history isn't quite as bad as ours.

Spot on. I'd be very surprised if the club hadn't at least mentioned something to him about an extension, and I'd be even more surprised if some clubs in League 2 hadn't been in touch with his agent already. It suits neither party at this time to reveal that information.

the fact  he took his owned up to taking eye off the situation on the pitch during our relegation was the biggest joke of all, he took over the club with us in a healthy bank balance , gave us two relegations and ended up leaving us some £2 million in debt,

Don't see what the problem is with timing. Sure these questions are probably not at the top of the board's agenda right now, but it's hardly a problem is it? Not the top of my list if truth be told.

They're not unreasonable questions though, and I shouldn't imagine the answers to them are state secrets either. And I wouldn't have thought asking them is going to derail our promotion push either.

Fair enough, nothing wrong with the OP but asking for the bashes to latch on and chime in. We got a few weeks of what could be history defining football to focus on and all Summer to try and think up something GTFC related to talk about.

But freedom of speech to put it out there of course

What a totally excrement thread FFS. Lets get the next few weeks out the way then lets bash the bejesus out of Fenty,Hurst,Trust,Woman in the shop and whoever else we all want to have a pop at for the demise of GTFC.I am more concerned with our seeming lack of intent on the pitch at present and I fully expect the Tranmere game to be another washout, however after that I expect  Promotion when our lads get a 2nd wind.UTM

Give it a rest davec - the most important thing, at least for the next 27 days is to get behind the players. I'm not bothered about the Trophy but promotion would put a whole new perspective on things.

Codger you like to have a pop when you want, a bit unfair to tell someone else to stop just because you feel like it

Like you go on about its a message board and just because you dont feel like having a go at fenty or his brother this week its a bit unfair to jump on peoples backs all of a sudden eh.

I agree its time to leave everything now until the end of the season but i wish people would stop preaching to other people every five minutes when they start the same argument off more than half the time themselves.

Just out of interest I've just checked GasChat for threads around this time last year. So much positivity from the Rovers fans, even after the disappointment of not winning the auto  promo place.

Whereas all we do is crucify our manager, our director and our club.

Can't help that this negativity is gonna bite us on the backside during the play offs.

Give over with that claptrap again.

The team win or lose games on the pitch and the manager picks the team. Nowt to do with the fans. Besides, the majority of Town fans have been brilliant . All down to what happens on the pitch.

Seriously? Maybe check it when they went down or at the start of the season. They were more than happy to have a pop.

Maybe if they'd stayed down for 5 years their approach to last years play offs might have been a tad different.

Suggest you visit the sites of Wrexham, Tranmere, FGR all recently have wanted their manager sacked so all this balderdash about it being a "Grimsby" thing is just that, balderdash.

I kindly suggest you take your head out of your @rse and stop blaming the fans. .

Because it's so hard getting relegated to Conference and then being immediately on a promotion dash just missing out title on last game or two of the Season then being overwhelming favourites for second bite at cherry.

Absolutely no crossover relevance to our downfall and stuck-in-the-mud for half a decade status.

The fans have been great this season it's what goes on the pitch that matters . But we can make the difference  we need  to be behind the lads , the play -offs will be won and lost by minut details - PKs , decisions etc . The only reason we lost the final was because of a penalty kick and arguably Bristol rovers player should of been removed in the opening stages . The atmosphere at BP and possibly the final is going to be vital we NEED the fans not just onside but ON the referees and officials , I make no apologies for this they can be swayed at this level no doubt , and we could make all the difference .Aswell in all probability in the final if we make it we will far outnumber the opposition fans this time . Come on guys UTM Fox
