A Burlney fan sent me this link today from their fans site.  About 15 comments complimentary about Town yesterday.  Also includes their fans' views of other games at Grimsby against Burnley.     (Great that Prem bound fans take an interest in all levels of football).

http://www.uptheclarets.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4235

(If the link does not work, worth going on to the site).

Some York fans were pleased that we got promoted.  However, they will miss their short trip to Cleethorpes with haddock and chips on the sea-front.  They are not looking forward to travelling all the way to play FGR instead and have a veggie burger!

Some Bristol Rovers fans have posted that we should have won last year against them and send their congratulations.

Thanks for that - I love reading what other clubs think of us and all the usual clichés.

What made me laugh was the discussion about the famous 6-5 game. "Grimsby scored from the only 6 chances they created..."  ;D

I wish we just did that every game.

Still amuses me that even on the Sunderland thread they talk about Gateshead hating us. I hope the Gateshead fans realise it's all one way. They're a nothing club with their 900 fans who we'll hopefully never play again.

The comments from the Gas are amazing. Lot of love out there for us. People need to stop posting this stuff as I've got work to do and every time I read something I'm either away with the fairies all over again or in bits.

all my work mates in Taunton have said well. . I've become close to a manager here who's a Bradford fan, looking forward to seeing him at some point as he's just as passionate of Bradford as I am of grimsby and was desperate for us to go up

Well done fishys!

I backed you last year and was disappointed to see you lose, after so much effort.

Pleased for you this year, though.  Unfortunately it had to be against my team.  You played like winners though, and your fans are incredible.

Such a shame that the Veggies were gutted by The Fishys (gutted, geddit?) by if any team had to beat us, I'm glad it was you.

Now go and do the double.

Very magnanimous of you Voodoo. We just had to win, it was our time. Good luck next season.

Agree voodoo thanks and well done for being so magnanimous. We well know it is bloody hard to do after a kick like you have just had.

Obviously there are many things we dislike about aspects of FGR,but it is not the fans like you who have been there and will continue to support the team.

Me and my brother got the train from Wembley to Northampton where we live and gotta admit wasn't particularly looking forward to the Prem fans and their comments.

But it was all good and positive , , met a group of Chelsea lads , , one of whom wanted a pic with me as his misses is a Grimsby lass!!

Other Chelsea lads mentioned about there good trips to BP and how we've got great fans.

Leicester fans also great words and mentioned our support and how they hope we can climb the leagues again.

Watford fan was amazing loads of ace comments.

Buzzing to hear such nice comments about our club and fans.

Oh and a massive congrats and well done from the Derby fan at work, , who I also consider to be a proper footy fan.

The Cobblers fans I know don't say all that much! You wouldn't believe they've just won the title, , boring bunch

Good to see a Barnsley fan on their remembering that infamous Boxing Day game years ago.  I was in the Lower Findus as a young lad and remember it well - especially a Barnsley fan getting into the Findus and wishing he hadn't!

Worth adding that forum to your favourites, plenty of transfer info on there, a few people who are genuinely in the know etc - GodsGift on there usually knows weeks / days before who we are actually chasing after / signing.

Further to my previous message, , I met a Sheff Weds fan today at work , , convo went like this,

Him - what's that rag on your chair?

Me - that's my Grimsby Town scarf

Him - oh yeh you just lost at Wembley didn't you?

Me - yes we did, but the week before we won at Wembley and got promoted back to the football league!

He then walks off! Very odd and didn't acknowledge the fact we just got promoted at all

Funny you should say that. I work with fans of quite a few clubs, most of who have congratulated me on Town's promotion, The only one who didn't was a Wednesday fan who I'd previously thought of as OK. He was going on about their Wembley play-off coming up so of course I mentioned ours - reaction was zero. I wasn't leaving it at that, and said what a great day it had been at long last, and I said "now we're back in the league, maybe one day we'll be meeting you on Boxing Days, Easter Mondays again". He looked at me like I was mad. Maybe I am, but better a mad Town fan than an ignorant ungracious Yorkie!

I live in Sheffield and know a lot of Wednesday fans the biggest majority are extremely arrogant

Sheff Wednesday are the real pigs not Sheff United.

They got the name Wednesday because it was early closing on a Wednesday and that's when they played football, and the butchers aprons were blue and white at that time.

So the saying pig ignorant is very fitting of Sheff Wednesday fans. Anyone will confirm that when we had our run in when Booth almost got us promoted to the top flight.
