Croudson signs new contract
News From 5th April 2000
Town's second choice keeper Stevie Croudson will finally put pen to paper on a 3-year extension to his contract later this week.
The 20-year-old Grimbarian was originally offered the new contract before Christmas but has only just decided to sign it, as his place in the team has now become more certain.
With Andy Love having left to join Ilkeston Town, Croudson is now the established number two keeper at the club behind Danny Coyne, and one day he hopes to become the first choice for the keeper's jersey. As he is under 24, Croudson will have to wait 4 years until he is available to leave for no fee under the terms of the deplorable Bosman ruling.
Croudson was delighted to finally sign up for the new deal:
"I'm really pleased. It's everything I want!.
"It was never a question of not signing a new contract. I hope to finalise it all in the next couple of days.
"I spoke to the manager yesterday, and I've told my agent that I want to sign it as soon as possible.
"I want to stay at the club and hopefully one day become number one."
