With England's sad and sorry dismissal from Euro 2000, the thoughts of Grimsby fans inevitably turns to domestic matters and the plight of the Mariners in next season's first division campaign, now just a few weeks away.

And what better to whet the appetite than the sight of next season's fixture list.

Once again the season kicks off at Blundell Park (possibly for the last time) with opposition in the form of Preston, promoted from the second division as last season's champions.

The second game is what used to be the annual drubbing at Fratton Park, but last season Grimsby reversed the trend, and triumphed 2-1 despite having had keeper Danny Coyne sent off.

Other early highlights are matches against Premership rejects Sheffield Wednesday and Wimbledon. The full list of games is:
