Question of the Week

Who will win the cup tie?

Striker for Town

Date: 26/09/2000

Lennie Lawrence announced today that he has found the striker he has been looking for. Refusing to name his target man, Lennie said it would be about 3 games from now before we see him and by mid October decisions will also have been made on other players on trial.

Town fans who have been waiting anxiously for this move since Lennie joined Grimsby. All that Lawrence would reveal about his transfer target is that he is based in the UK. It remains to be seen if Lennie will actually capture his man but it is unlikely that he would have made an an announcement without making sure that his target is available and willing to come to Grimsby for at very least a trial, and more likely a loan spell (if he is to feature in the first team). A striker is not the only problem Lennie has but if Town can get that position sorted out, which has been the main priority so far, he can concentrate on other things particularly the defensive position if the Mariners continue to field a 3-5-2 formation.
