Date: 03/10/2000

According to unconfirmed reports, Reading midfielder Sean Evers who was given a trial at Grimsby but returned to his club without playing a game has been offered another trial period. It is not yet known how long the trial period will be.

The previous arrangement with Reading was that Evers would be released to play one game in order to allow Lennie Lawrence to look at him with a view to offering him an extended trial or loan period. The game he was selected to play in was the reserve fixture against Scunthorpe which was rained off and in accordance with the agreement between the two clubs, Evers left Grimsby and returned to Reading sight unseen. Evers is now expected to join the club this week and may play in the game planned for Wednesday in which a number of trialists will be playing. 22 year old Evers, who played under Mariners boss Lennie Lawrence when he was manager and Evers left Luton for Reading for £500,000 after Lennie had left Luton.
