Livvo Receives Ban

Date: 11/01/2001

Steve Livingstone has escaped with a one-match ban and £500 fine after appearing in front of the FA. The striker was hauled before a disciplinary committee earlier today to answer charges of bringing the game into disrepute.

The ban will come into effect from the 29th January, meaning that Livingstone will be ruled out of the Mariners home clash with Wimbledon during the first week of February. Commenting after the hearing a relieved Livingstone told reporters: "In the circumstances it could have been worse. The usual punishment would have been a two match ban, but because I asked for a personal hearing and my previous good record was taken into account, I was given just the one match ban and a £500 fine. "Of course it would have been better if there had been no ban at all, but overall I think I had a fair hearing and it could have been worse."
