Town Kit Deal Imminent

By: Peter Forrester
Date: 23/01/2001

The Mariners current kit suppliers Avec are close to signing a new deal with Town to allow them to continue supplying the team's kit. The company have been Grimsby's kit supplier since April 1998 but went into receivership just before the Christmas season and this left the club without a supplier.

Vice Chairman Bryan Huxford is close to negotiating a deal to keep the company afloat, and continue the Mariners relationship with Avec, who would be supplying the team's famous black and white kit for the foreseeable future under the proposed deal.

"It was important that we looked into the possibilities which, in the circumstances, would be the best for the club on a whole. I am delighted to say a deal has almost been done which will see AVEC continuing on the team shirts and associated merchandise." said Mr Huxford.

AVEC supplied the kit following the first game at Wembley in the 1997-98 season against Bournemourth, and the company and club are keen to continue the partnership, support each other and reward the fans in the process.

"I think the fans will be very surprised at the prices we will be able to retail at in the future and that can only be good news for them (the fans)" added the Town Vice Chairman.
