Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Stace: "We Shaded It"

By: Richard Lord
Date: 19/02/2001

Grimsby Town's midfielder Stacy Coldicott admitted "there was a desire to hang on and win the game" in the Mariner's team as many of the players turned in excellent performances to hand Town three more valuable points as the fight for survival begins to warm up.

"It was always going to be a difficult game," conceded the ex-Baggie's midfielder. "They came with a plan to stop us playing football but one thing that came out of today was that there was a desire to hang on and win the game. I thought we shaded it to be honest" granted Coldicott.

The battling ball-winner, who had another good performance in the heart of Grimsby's midfield, confessed to his surprise of his introduction so early in the game "Wayne took a bit of a bang and you never expect to get on that early, but sometimes it just happens like that."

Speaking of his Chinese teammate, Zhang Enhua, the 26-year old midfielder commented "He's a great player and it's just a question of getting the communication right." The Chinese national captain had an uneasy start to his loan spell at Blundell Park but has since adapted to the tactics Lennie Lawrence employs. "He's got used to the way we play and he's popped up with the winner" said Stace.
