Liverpool 1 Grimsby Town 2

By: Fishy News Team
Date: 09/10/2001

THE MARINERS recorded one of the greatest results in their entire history on Tuesday night at Anfield with a 2-1 win after extra time.

Lifelong Liverpool fan Phil Jevons made it a remarkable comeback for the Mariners with a 30-yard screamer deep in extra time.

"It worked out perfectly" said Lawrence Lawrence after the game. "It will live in everybody's memory who is associated with Grimsby forever."

"If you play Liverpool 20 time you would lose 17, draw 2 and win 1, and this is the night we managed to do it. We deserved a draw I think, and we snatched a winner out of the blue really."

More photographs and a full report will be published later.
