Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Simply The Best!

JOHN McDermott, Grimsby Town's captain, said today that the signings of Todd and Pringle were the best any team around us have managed to get in regard to quality. On Pringle he said: "He can get the goals to get us out of this, without a shadow of a doubt."

"You could see that on Saturday and he was getting himself in some great positions. He has got everything and it's good to know that you have someone up there who can get you a goal."

McDermott, talking to the Grimsby Telegraph, paid tribute to the management team of Paul Groves and Graham Rodger for signing the two players.

"The new lads were brilliant, pure class on Saturday. You could tell where they've been playing their football and I don't think Toddy got out of third gear."

"You have to take your hats off to Groves and Grezzer. When you look around and see other clubs who are struggling, like Sheffield Wednesday and Walsall, getting in players, we were thinking what we were going to do about it."

"Then this happens and, if you look at it, we've got the best pair out of all three clubs. We've signed the best players."

"The last few games I think we've been organised and a hard team to beat. We've been playing like a top half team and we look strong and capable of scoring goals. We've got the basis of putting a good run together and we've definitely got the hunger."

"We want a finish like last year and, when the fans get behind you, it feels like you're fighting for promotion and not against relegation. That's certainly how it was when we beat Fulham last year."

"Tonight is probably the biggest game we're going to get and we have to win."
