Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Pringle Injury Confirmed

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 27/02/2002

MARTIN Pringle was seen in hospital both last night and today by Grimsby Town boss Paul Groves and other club officials. The Charlton striker was reported by the manager to be in good spirits despite the second leg break of his career.

Pringle suffered a double fracture of his leg - in other words, both tibia and fibula were broken. He was taken on a stretcher straight from the pitch to the waiting ambulance, and from there to Grimsby hospital.

The club will now have the player transferred to the specialist hospital in Stoke today where he will undergo an operation. The same hospital in Stoke that had carried out previous operations on the player.

Pringle had spent a year recovering after a stress fracture of his shin and had come to Blundell Park for the final push to match fitness. "He will be going back to the hospital where he was treated before," said Groves.

"Considering what he has gone through he is in very good spirits but that is Martin, he is a very likeable lad and I feel for him."

Grimsby Fans who wish to send their best wishes to Martin can do so by emailing oldgit@gtfc.co.uk at Mariners Net who will pass on your message to him.
