A Fishy Story?

By: Black'n White Barmy
Date: 15/10/2002

SINCE Billo's controversial article on the future of GTFC and Danny Coyne, I have noticed an increasing number of messages on the Message Board questioning the independence of this site.

I myself began to question whether what we were reading on the Fishy was club propaganda or the rantings of madmen. Further to this I began to ponder the question 'What is the official line of the Fishy?' not just on this matter but on any issue concerning GTFC.

The more I thought about this the more I found myself trying to recall the Fishy having an official line on anything. The only thing which came to mind was the Supporters Trust, no bad thing, in my opinion.

That last phrase sums up the Fishy it is my firm belief that this site does not have an official view. All articles, all posts on the message board are INDIVIDUAL opinions. Perhaps the misconception has arisen because of Billo, this is in no way meant to criticise Billo. Billo is a co-founder and co-administrator ! of this site it is also widely known that he is an avid supporter of the present regime at Blundell Park, but more than that he is an individual with his own, sometimes forthright, opinions. The confusion comes when people blur these facts together, suddenly Billo's opinion is seen as the opinion of the Fishy.

When I first registered with the site I believed that certain contributors were a little too pompous, a little too 'up themselves'. The more I read, the more I became accustomed to each individuals eccentricities, their style of debate and their sense of humour and my opinions changed.

That is what makes this site worth reading (daily). Everyone is allowed to voice their own opinion and be listened to, ignored or ridiculed by others. The site allows us a forum to do this along with a few competitions, questions, excellent links and stats. The slant or spin on the articles and posts is dependant on who wrote them rather than any censorship by the administrators.

So to finish. I do not believe this site to be biased or pro / anti board. I believe this site exists to allow genuine fans of GTFC to have their say and long may it continue.

Of course thats just my opinion.

Editor The Fishy policy is to provide a forum for fans to have their say, exchange their views and to support Grimsby Town Football Club..
