Barnard Helps Wales to Victory

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 20/11/2002

GRIMSBY midfielder Darren Barnard helped Wales overcome Azerbaijan in this afternoon's Euro 2004 qualifier in Baku, although Town teammate Danny Coyne failed to make the starting XI, or be named as a substitute.

The result maintains Wales 100% record in their Euro 2004 qualifiers to date, and puts them five points clear at the top of their group, which includes Yugoslavia and Italy. So two Mariners at least are on target to feature in a major championship, which takes place in Portugal during the summer of 2004!
