Sagare Shown the Door!
By: Rob Sedgwick
AMERICAN forward Luke Sagare has departed from Blundell Park after just one first team game under his belt in a Grimsby shirt - the penultimate match of last season against Reading. A regular in the now disbanded reserve team, Sagare had been expected to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Sagare joined Grimsby on a rolling one-month contract in January as cover for the final half of the season. Despite going on to impress in a number of reserve outings, and a promising debut in last season's game at the Madejski Stadium, where he started alone up front, the former Washington University star has been made yet another casualty of the sweeping cost-cutting changes currently being made by the Blundell Park board.
The 23-year-old American has returned to the USA to join the Portland Timbers.
