Mansaram On Month's Loan

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 02/09/2004

GRIMSBY Town striker Darren Mansaram was in talks with Halifax today over a loan move to The Shay. Town still hold his registration and Halifax are talking about a month's loan.

In the Grimsby Telegraph Slade said: "Darren is over at Halifax this morning talking about a move. The paperwork has not been done but I think Chris Wilder is looking at a month's loan. It will be good for Darren to play regularly and at a decent level in the Conference.

His chances have been limited here recently and playing reserve team football isn't the same as getting competitive action. Hopefully it will make him sharper and work out for him - he will benefit from more experience."

Slade also said he is hopeful of bringing in a League 1 striker but he still has reserve Paul Robinson.

"By all accounts, Paul did okay for the reserves and showed some good touches. Whether he is the answer to our target man problem remains to be seen but I am keeping my options open. I am still looking around and may have the chance to bring a current League One striker here on loan. There are possibilities but I want to make sure I get the right sort of player who wants to be a part of this club."

"There's no doubt, though, we need someone with experience to help out up front."
