Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

October Player of the Month

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/11/2004

OCTOBER was a frustrating month for the Mariners, in which they only won one game. Town's basic problem was not scoring enough goals, with only five strikes in six games during a month which saw four drawn matches.

Home > 2004-2005 Season > Player of the Month > October

So here are the six nominations for October:

John McDermott
John McDermott Found his second or third wind as a professional at the age of 35, and looks likely to continue for at least another season after this one, setting an appearance record for the Mariners that may never be beaten. John McDermott Profile
Dean Gordon
Dean Gordon Scored his first goal of the season for the Mariners in October, the only goal of the game in the month's solitary victory at Northampton. Undoubtedly the most accomplished player at the club, as his career details show, and still only 31. Dean Gordon Profile
Jon Daly
Jon Daly The big on-loan striker from Stockport scored on his debut at Chester. Whether Daly is the long-term answer to Town's goalscoring problems remains to be seen. Jon Daly Profile
Terrell Forbes
Terrell Forbes One of three defenders to make the shortlist. Other than a mistake at Chester, Forbes had another good month for the Mariners, where the defence as a whole was not really the problem. Terrell Forbes Profile
Justin Whittle
Justin Whittle The former Hull City captain has a lot of experience at this level. Although he might not be the most technically gifted player in the squad, Whittle's presence on the pitch and no frills approach to the game is exactly what's needed in this division. Justin Whittle Profile
Andy Parkinson
Andy Parkinson Been unlucky not to score more goals this season, despite working his socks off in every game. To be fair the three man strikeforce favoured by Russell Slade may not suit Parky, with his preferred role perhaps being to play off a big striker. Andy Parkinson Profile
