Slade Hopeful Of Signings

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 12/05/2005

TOWN boss Russell Slade believes he's uncovered a trialist who could do a job for the Mariners in League Two, and the Grimsby manager is hoping to sign him before someone else snaps him up.

Slade arranged another behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday, as he looks to make an early start to his team-building for the new season. There were 22 players from clubs such as Cardiff, Partick Thistle, Everton, Liverpool, Bordeaux and even from the Gambia.

"There's one or two caught my eye," Slade told the Official Website. "There's certainly one that I want to pursue. Hopefully we can capture his signature before long."

And the Mariners boss thinks that getting a good player out of the practice games has made it all worth while.

He said: "I think that's the top and bottom of it. We've found one today and one or two possibles - that's a great days work in many ways. If we can manage to sign he we will be delighted."
