Steve Mildenhall

Steve Mildenhall was signed by Russell Slade in the 2005/2006 season. Mildenhall played in goal for Town and was ever present in the 2005/2006 season in which Grimsby reached the League Two play-off final at Cardiff, but sadly lost to Cheltenham.

In this match Mildenhall showed his class to the nation when he saved a penalty which kept Grimsby in the game, he was also in the famous team which beat Premiership side Tottenham at Blundell Park in the league cup.

Mildenhall was a greatly respected 'keeper at Blundell Park and was one of the best town 'keepers of recent times. Mildenhall was a great shot stopper and was good at one-on-ones. He also was a great leader and an organiser of his back four, and he worked extremely well with Rob Jones (now at Hibernian). Mildenhall moved at the end of the 05/06 season and followed Russell Slade to Yeovil were he lost another play-off final at Wembley.
