Beat the Bookies: Week 11

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/10/2009

TORQUAY came so close to beating Notts County last week. It was very frustrating, But sadly it meant another losing week for Beat the Bookies. We can only console ourselves that the game was much closer than the bookies believed it would have been.

Home > 2009-2010 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 11

Grimsby v Rochdale. The bookies are strongly favouring Rochdale is this game, unsurprising given the recent form. Town though, with several new players in their ranks, will potentially be much better than they have been in recent weeks. The new signings will hopefully give all the players and supporters a lift and this could well see a much improved performance. All the value in this game clearly lies with the home team at 3/1 Selection: Grimsby

Crewe v Port Vale. Crewe's unexpected win at Bradford last week aside, they are on a terrible run after a decent start to the season. Vale are an inconsistent side, but have shown a steady improvement of late and are well capable at picking up maximum points at Gresty Road. You can back Vale at 13/5 Selection: Port Vale

Rotherham v Notts County. You'd be making a handsome profit if you'd back County to lose every game this season on the road. They looked very unconvincing last week and the sacking of their manager could go either way on their form. Fundamentally though on last week's showing County will struggle against a strong home side. Rotherham can be backed at 13/10. Selection: Rotherham

Darlington v Shrewsbury. Poor old Darlo. They always seem to lose 1-0, 2-0 or 2-1. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride. This week they entertain the in form Shrews. It has to be an away win, surely! Or does it? That's what everyone is thinking so let's hope the 11/4 for a home win is one of the bargain's of the week. Selection: Darlington

Dagenham v Bradford. Dagenham were not that impressive against Darlo last week, and before that had struggled in recent games. City's form has been poor of late, but they may well get a kick up the backside after last week's home defeat by Crewe and could well respond with a good result in Essex. You can bet on Bradford at 3/1 Selection: Bradford
