Both players started last season with great expectations on their shoulders. The pair had both ended the previous campaign strongly and were probably amongst the first names to be mentioned by Town fans a year ago when looking forward to the new season with optimism.

Sweeney struggled with form and could not recapture the football which had persuaded Town to but in him in the summer from Leeds. The frustrating thing was he obviously had the talent, and showed in flashes what he was capable of, but his heart did not seem to be in the side and Town drifted almost as much as Sweeney did in and out of games.
