Alan Connell Signs for Town

BOURNEMOUTH striker Alan Connell has today joined Grimsby Town from the Cherries in a two year deal, with the option of a further year. Town are reported to have fought off several other clubs for the 27-year-old's signature.

The Londoner began his career at Ipswich, but made his name at Bournemouth, whom he played for between 2002-2005. He went on to play for Torquay, Hereford and Brentford before returning to Dean Court in 2008.

Connell's record show him not as a prolific goalscorer, but many of his recent appearances have been as a substitute and he has also been played in midfield for some of his career.

  • Grimsby won 1-0 at Brigg on Friday night with Michael Coulson scoring the only goal just before half time. The Mariners' next friendly is at Frickley on Tuesday night.
