Cambridge v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 09/11/2010

TOWN have several players who are on the verge of returning to the first team after long injury spells. After a frenetic summer and autumn in the BSP fixture programme, the Mariners have had a break this weekend with no FA Cup game, and players have had an extra few days to recover.

Their opponents Cambridge did feature in the FA Cup and have paid the price with injuries and a suspension in the league game with Town, plus a replay to schedule in their programme.

Striker Charles Ademeno managed 20 minutes in Grimsby's last game against Eastbourne and is likely to at least make the bench. Ademeno and top scorer Alan Connell are manager's Neil Woods's chosen front pairing, but the former Crawley target man has started just one game for Town this season and didn't finish that.

Other long term absentees likely to be in the squad are former Rochdale 'keeper Kenny Arthur who has missed the last ten games and midfielder Lewis Gobern who has missed the eight.

The trio all featured in the reserves game with Alfreton, and give Neil Woods options in the midweek game with former league side Cambridge United,

Cambridge have several players out for the game with the Mariners. Defender Dave Partridge is banned after getting his fifth yellow card of the season in the FA Cup draw with Huddersfield, while fellow defenders Brian Saah and Blaine Hudson are both injured. Cambridge manager Martin Ling therfore has just one central defender available to him, so will have to reshuffle his pack and play someone else in the back four.
