Beat the Bookies: Week 18

JUST one winner last week, and the odds were not quite enough to cover the rest of the losing bets. However they were all long odds so that in itself is not an unlikely event if you set the bar so high.

Grimsby take on Tamworth this week in a match which Town are predictably favourites to win. Tamworth had a good win over Dartford last weekend and lost narrowly in midweek to Kidderminster. Town have won their last two home games convincingly but with the side chopping and changing quite a bit it's hard to see value in the price for a home win. The best odds look for a draw with Pinnacle who are offering 4.31.

Premier League

  • Fulham v Newcastle - away win (4.75. Sporting Bet). Both team have awful form but Newcastle must take some confidence from a convincing win over Wigan exactly a week before. The only downside is the extra game the Geordies have had to play in the Europa Cup but the fact that this game is on Monday may hopefully alleviate that.

    League One

  • Swindon v Doncaster - away win (4.26, Pinnacle). A very long price for Donny considering they are second and Swindon have lost the last two games. Blue Square Premier

  • Forest Green v Macclesfield - away win (4.33, 888 Sport). Neither of these sides have been particularly convincing or reliable for a while, but this game looks more even that the bookies are suggesting.
  • Grimsby v Tamworth - draw (4.31, Pinnacle). Pinnacle's price for a draw stood out from the rest of the betting industry at the time of writing. Grimsby have been swapping and changing their side quite a bit in recent weeks so a home win might not be the formality the bookies are suggesting.
  • Luton v Alfreton Town - away win (6.5, 888 Sport). Luton have won 2 from 6, but Alfreton have won 3, and that includes a defeat against Leyton Orient in the cup, where they were unlucky to lose.
  • Woking v Stockport - over 4.5 goals (4.75, Sporting Bet). Both teams have a total of 25 goals in their last 6 games, averaging over 4!
